You see it doesnt matter anymore...this isnt 1995 where there is any type of song that she has to release....the public is waaaaaay pass Mariah being Celine
Dion.....they expect Mariah to come with songs like Migrate now...and for those people who arent....ITS TIME FOR A WAKE UP CALL!!! Im sick and tired of
living in the shadow of the 1995 Mariah....so because people expect a ballad she needs to release one even if its not even close to being as hot as Migrate?
That makes absolutely 0 sense.....they should have thought about that when they went with the very ordinary first single. But its time to really start the
party.....
And my reason even goes further because any single released as aballad now is gonna be compared to WBT....people saying its just another WBT/DFAU. Take the
spotlight off the big ballad for a second and release Migrate.....no one is stopping her from singing a ballad on AI....it will sell the record if its
performed really well wont it? People are gonna say I love that song and go buy the album and this is while Migrate is taking radio by storm and TMB is
slowly declining!!! I mean she performed That Chick, Migrate and Love Story...none of which are the supposed second single....I think its greater peforming
other hot tracks from the album while out on the circuit and letting the single do its thing on radio...
You are right about the shadow of the 1995 Mariah. I agree and maybe Migrate would have the power to get those still stuck in 1995 Mariah land to wake up.
But Mariah said ballads are still a part of who she is and I love her hip hop, uptempo, pop, r&b songs, and ballads because it doesn't matter what
mood I am in - Mariah has the perfect song!
I think a thread on this board played the numbers game and statistically ballad singles ended up selling albums for artists more than uptempos-that is why I
think ultimately a ballad will be the next single.
IDJ will be very strategic in their next moves. It is part timing and luck.
