Right, so assuming it all falls under the umbrella of AC, she's still doing that now. She was doing it on CB, TEOM and will probably do it on the new
album. So what is your problem? Other than kicking up a fuss because the one song from it you've heard you don't like?
But according to Jasp., Mariah is done with AC because its cheesy.
And my problem is not with Mariah, its with Mariah's fans who believe she should only be making hip/hop influenced music.
I don't see anyone saying that. You're still arguing the same point I've been saying to you over and over again. People are saying Mariah
should not be recording poppy, shlocky balladry to appease the people who have spent the last 11 years whining that Mariah is too urban now (or really, a good
deal of people who have been fans for three years and wish Mariah would revert to her first few albums). This is the woman who fought for her early ballads to
be more urban, the woman who made comments in the late 90's about what it's like to go out in a gown singing "Hero" night after night, the
woman who admitted that Island was the reason she went on her "woe is me" promotional campaign in 2002 promoting a dated, inspirational
ballad.
The point is Mariah's heart has always been more into ballads like "Mine Again" and "Fly Like A Bird". Now she finally not
only has the artistic freedom to record ballads like that, but they're also a lot more fashionable in the mainstream now than they were back in the early
90's (when it wasn't considered politically incorrect to ask a woman in interviews why she looks white but sounds black and putting hip-hop influences
in your music was a death sentence at pop radio). Just because she loves some Olivia Newton John songs from
Grease,
like any young girl who grew up in the 70's, does not mean that she's been repressing that side of her.
