Fine. She doesn't make the music she "truely" loves. She only makes crap these days.
So why are you still posting here?

Are u for real? I love Charmbracelet, and most of TEOM. I was arguing a point that Mariah does still listen to ballads and other genres of music that we have not heard her make herself.

There is definitely a change in Mariah's direction and that became obvious first with CB and then with TEOM..I'm not in the least comparing these two albums but you don't find any "classic Mariah ballads" in them..And these ballads once upon a time used to be her trademark..And there are people like me,call us romantic,old-fashioned,whatever,who still expect to hear Mariah belting and doing her magic in a song like that..Why does "moving forwards" have to mean skipping those songs and just giving us the "We belong together" type of ballads? There is nothing wrong with it but, when it comes to ballads,I want the real thing..The last time we actually heard classic Mariah ballads was in Rainbow (I'm letting aside Glitter)..And these songs like Can't take that away or Petals or even her cover of Against all odds stand out in her catalogue, are fan and non-fan favorites and have longevity..The ballads of 2000 and onwards lack that quality..

Ditto!I feel the same way.Her voice in the big ballads hits me right in the heart.I;ve been many time sliterally moved to tears jusr from the way she sounds when singing a single word in the much hated by herself IDWC:(((

Exactly! I don't see why she can't put at least 1 classic ballad on each album. There is a market for that.... Her original fans would appreciate it, and it would give me something to relate to better on the album

You also stated that Mariah is a liar.
Because you said the music she makes now is not her thing, and sorry but you don't have the right to say that.
Just because YOU want her to sing cheesy songs, doesn't mean she wants to.
I am 100% convinced that the music she makes this day, is the music she wants to make.

True, Mariah has been saying this is the "true" her for the first time for her last 5 albums or so. It's hard to tell what she really likes, but I would say that she does like ballads... Isn't that what she was writing before she got a record deal? She was writing what she liked, and not what she was told to write. I would say she also likes R&B songs, because of her influences like Aretha Franklin.

AC ballads(which i don't like, or atleast didn't participate in making me a fan).

Thanks for the laugh, I needed that. If that was the case, and she was only interested in hip hop for commercial reasons, then please explain to me why one of the biggest risks she ever took in her career was to ditch the AC forumla that was winning for her, and go in an urban direction? Why was she doing the sampling things back in 1993? Why did she hand a CD collection of hundreds of rap CDs to Jamie Theakson in an interview during the 'Rainbow' era? Why is she playing rap music almost everywhere she goes?

It's actually how funny and deluded fans are... they actually believe that deep down, the 1993 ballad Mariah is just waiting to come out. Just because Mariah mentions that she likes a Barbra Streisand song or two means that's who she really is. Please. I think there's one or two Celine songs I might like... does that mean that I'm kidding myself with all the other music I listen to? Mariah is diverse, but you're burying your head in the sand if you think that her first love isn't RnB and Hip Hop. To quote the late nutrye... "Find life."

Right Kev. Her first love is defintiely modern day hip hop. Cause that was even around when she was growing up, before she was making music. She saw what was moving in a popular direction and capitalized on it. She is a good business woman. Her number one inspiration is Stevie Wonder and that came directly from her mouth. Now go eat something.

So by your logic, people aren't allowed to like new music or feel inspired by new music because it wasn't around before they were born. You need to give up.

Really?!! So interesting, cause those are some of my favorite Mariah ballads!!! Yep, little old adult cheesy contemporary loving me.

And for the record, some of my least favorite MC ballads are songs like When I Saw You, Just To Hold You Once Again, Whenever You Call, All I've Ever Wanted, and Through the Rain.

Sorry guys, but Mariah said that she didn't even know what Billboard was before she got her record deal, so I really doubt that the first songs she was writing were just copying what was popular at the time. Before her deal, before she was being pressured to do anything, SHE WAS WRITING BALLADS.

I mean seriously, in songs like "Petals", we get a REAL LIFE STORY of her life. Songs like "Through the Rain" are things that actually happened to her! Woudn't you say that that type of song would be closest to her, since it's about her?

Sorry, but "Touch My Body" has nothing to do with her life. lol

Perhaps later in her career she wanted to experiment with her sound, but that doesn't mean she didn't like ballads anymore. Wake up! Sure, Mariah does like R&B songs, but it doesn't mean it's all she likes!

Ooh hitting me where it hurts, my eating habits *sobs*. I suppose I shouldn't have counted on an intelligent debate with you. I'll go eat something if you go and get laid.

The songs you just listed are AC. The ones before that aren't really. Do you even know what the genre is?

I'm not saying she doesn't genuinely love her hip hop music today. But what I am saying is her main inspiration comes from music of the 70s. Why do you think on TEOM we got ballads like Circles, I Wish You Knew, and Mine Again (though I loathe it). All very inspired by the first decade of her life.

You must by the fly on the wall who knows all about Mariah's sex life. Lucky you.

Are you honestly going to try and argue that Mariah and Paris Hilton have the sex tape thing in common? lol ... Mariah has said many times that she is like Mary Poppins and has slept with less people than she can count on 1 hand. Lets not try and pretend this song is real now, you poor soul.

The song is anti-sex tape, and regardless of how many people she's had sex with, do you really think the woman is a celibate nun? image
