mariah loves jazz and soul ballads, its not just hip-hop inspired midtempos. in fact, she loves gospel and jazz and TRUE r&b like aretha and stevie
over that !!@@ "r&b" rihannaesque crap that is out there today. so stop talking out ur a$$es and saying that MC is doing this hip.hop
r&b becuase thats what she truly lovez... when in fact shez only doing it for commercial reasons, not artistic ones. until mariah becomes an indie
artist, we aint neva gonna see the real MC. oh and she does like a/c ballads, she said so in 2005 she says she still listens to baraba streisand ballads.
so get over ur midtempo crap. god.
Hun, you need to start learning some R-E-S-P-E-C-T. That, and stop typing like a 12 year old girl. is it that hard to type "NEVER" as opposed
to "NEVA"??? or "loves" with an "s" and not a "z"? I didn't think so.
And not to burst your "I'm so
intelligent, aren't I?" bubble, but Mariah is a self-proclaimed lover and appreciator of music in general, she listens to everything from gospel
to underground hip hop to Barbara Streisand to Def Leppard. She's influenced by the art of music. That said, RIGHT NOW, in her current frame of mind,
where she is in her life, the bouncy midtempo's with breezy lyrics and fun chorus lines seem to be where she's at. So how about YOU get over your
preconceived notion of what is influencing Mariah right now and accept that Mariah isn't the A/C artist she used to be and probably never will be
again. If it's A/C you want, then Leona Lewis is your girl, or Celine Dion. Mariah is a trendy artist, she helps create them and then rides them until
the tide changes. Get used to it, dahhhling, it's been happening since the start of her career.
I love how u guys diss MC's A/C's stuff now, but if she were to come out with another music box type ballad, you all would be like OMG THIS SH-IT
IS INCREDIBLE. You jsut defend MC no matter what. If she had a rapper on every song, you'd find a way to defend it.
And I didn't mention A/C until the very end of my post, I was talking about Jazz, Gospel, and real R&B. Because that is Mariah's true inflenece.
shes been saying that since 1990. did u see the first vision. not one mentino of hip hop, she talked about GOSPEL AND SOUL MUSIC. Ya know, classic soul music
like aretha franklin, luther vandross, patti labelle, stevie wonder. Not Beyonce and Rihanna.
Hip hop is also - how did you put it? - one of her "true" influences, she just couldn't explore it because of a little man named Tommy
Mottolla.
You need to learn how you argue, because your argument is so full of fallacies that it's one giant slippery slope...it's laughable. Eh, not like i
expect to have intelligent discussions here most of the time anyway. At least not with fans who want her to go back to Music Box
. Oh, btw, if Lead the Way, Never Too Far, Through the Rain, Circles and MA
didn't make you happy, then i don't know what to tell you, just leave Mariah be at this point, because the music she's making right now is what she
wants to make right now.
An artist, whether it be an actual artist, a musician, a writer, etc., is allowed to have more than one influence. You clearly aren't an artist because
if you were you would know that. I'm a writer, and i have more than one influence from many different genres, but I'm generally a creative nonfiction
writer. Yet my biggest influence is JD Salinger, a fiction writer. See my point? You probably don't, but that's because you're so
narrow-minded.
Oh, and one more thing, if i don't like the music, i won't defend it. Don't generalize in that group of deranged lambs who defend Mariah no
matter what. If i don't like it, i'll say it. If Mariah released an album of all A/C Music Box-inspired ballads tomorrow, i would buy it out of
support, but i would HATE it. I hate Music Box, it lacks any sort of creativity or passion; it's cold and calculated, it's the most UN-Mariah project
she's done. I happen to appreciate ALL genres of music, from country to hip hop, from pop to rock, jazz to gospel, indie to mainstream, classical to
trance....I'm not so closed off from reality that i would say "Mariah doesn't have any other influences besides jazz, gospel and (whatever you
classify REAL as) R&B."
