One thing I think Mariah's videos do is capture the feel of her songs; even if "Fantasy," "Dreamlover," "Emotions," "Always Be My Baby," etc. aren't great videos in terms of being innovative or making a statement or something, they match the production really well and capture the mood of those songs.

'Honey' and 'Heartbreaker' definitley elevate their songs, imo. The 'SIO' video made me like it a bit more too. But yeah usually her videos have no effect.

If its #1 airplay and # 6 or so in sales... wheres it go on the Hot 100?

It'll probably be at #4 this week. I haven't did the computations yet, but I'm confident that 'Crank That' will be #1, with 'Apologize' and 'Kiss Kiss' fighting for the #2 spot. 'No One' will probably go to #1 the week the album is released. Just my observation.

are they pushing a 2nd single now tho?

I heard on the radio this morning we're going to play the new alicia keys song in a minute, if you miss it, we're playing it again at 9:10... I can't imagine they'd be that eager to tell the audience the play schedule of a song everyone has heard by now....

"I just heard "Like You"ll Never See Me Again" on the radio. The song is amazing. It is better than "No One". The song is so beautiful, I can't believe I just heard it. I love it already. "

that was from someone at Pulse boards

and a clip of the song can be heard here:

Well, they need to b/c I think by December, "No One" would've burned out on the urban charts, so they need a new song on radio to get extra album sales before the dreaded sales period at the beginning of January.

I think the 'Billboard calendar year' starts at the beginning of December. I don't know about her having the best selling CD of the year, though, b/c we can't predict what's going to happen next year. Some ppl actually think Celine Dion will be a threat to her in the opening week, but I don't agree with that. I don't care if Celine is doing all the heavy promo and being on Oprah. I don't think it's going to be enough to beat out Keys.

any indication of the album succes based on the short clip i've heard of this song is that its going to be played all year long with maybe 4 strong singles....

I'm sure Keys will do some heavy promo and at some point stop by Oprah as well. 'No One' performace so far has gone above and beyond what I expected. I still dont like the song, but its obvious there are a lot of people who do.

'no one' is like the epitomy of payola and it's pathetic sales prove that. It's the number 1 song in airplay, the lead single from an album yet to be released and from an extremely high profile artist and with a nice video.
The song is hideous in every way possible. From the childish idiotic melody, to the abysmally painful off-key vocal. Seriously, does no one hear that she is off key throughout the song? and it's not like it's by an eight of a tone. she's making full quarter tone, semitone and tone mistakes! urgh...
