Where is all this talk of not crossing over to Pop coming from? It sounds so poppish to me. More poppish than Karma. The production and riff sound like Where Is The Love.

That's kind of my point. It's not really urban, so I am unsure what her support there will be (of course, "Irreplaceable" did well so nevermind). And since she's never been a huge Top 40 artist, I don't know how it will do. It's not exactly an immediate song.

Oh I see. I think a poppish song can only be a plus for her on pop radio. And I think Urban and UAC will play Alicia no matter what (moreso than they would with non urban Beyonce). A song like this should be okay at rhythmic too.

I think its pretty careless to say Alicia Keys isn't really a huge Top 40 artist...also pretty careless to say its not urban .. HELLOOOOO Shes just mroe of an urban artist if your're looking strictly at format generalizations... Fallin My Boo both # 1 , Diary, A Woman's Worth If I Aint Got You, both Top 10... Diary was strictly an R&B format tho... Its just pretty obvious that Alicia Keys covers a very broad base. College crowd, teens, adults, and hip hop.

No One isn't really a "pop" song. Its a catchy R&B song that would do well at Pop because pop doesn't really have a specific sound... it reacts to what is popular and what basic good music is being put out there. The strength of a record like Fallin, makes No One pop-like because before Fallin, a song that would've sounded similar would've been called strict R&B.

don't get your panties in a bunch. The song will do really well.... even if its only spun on Urban... which i doubt it will be.

No, Jason and I aren't talking about the Hot 100, we're talking about her Top 40 radio stats. On pop, her only hits are Fallin', If I Ain't Got You, and Karma. The rest flopped. Diary didn't even chart.

I actually like it, cause you can FEEL the SONG!!! you know, there are tons of good songs out there, but you can't feel any connection at all to it, and this one you can. yea her voice does sound a little stretched, but maybe it was somewhat intentional to make it sound desperate!!!

I love the beginning the first couple of lines are AWESOME!!! almost a Bob Marley feel to it!! it does drag on a little towards the middle and I think it will peak and do well and then the 2nd song (HOPEFULLY an overall smash) will take its place quickly for the holiday!!

i thought is was such a really great song. But I'm afraid it's not going to do well, now that I just heard Britney's new track

I like the song... but what happened to her voice? It's getting weaker and weaker as time goes by. She can't belt like she used to. The song is good but it's far from You Don't Know My Name's creativity (music/vocal/production wise)

How in this world can Britney be a threat to Alicia? image Alicia isn't a contender for #1 (I guess she's not a big download seller). Plus, I don't see this song doing that well in airplay... but that's my bet!

esettle... why do you hate alicia so much?

I think she's extremely overrated. The only songs she's ever released that I like are 'Fallin' & 'Diary', but I cant listen to either anymore now. Her music bores me. I hate how people(critics) try to act like she's so original, but a lot of her lyrics are extremely recycled. I want her to go away.......far far away

She is easily overrated as a writer. I can't believe she has 3 Grammys for writing. She's a decent pianist and singer, but overall she doesn't merit the praise as the second coming that she's gotten.

I guess no one here read the Rolling Stone interview where she said she was going for a sound that was like "Janis Joplin singing Aretha", or something to that effect. Given that piece of information, I think it's pretty obvious that the hoarseness was intentional. I hope she doesn't drag that sound throughout the entire album, though. I can take Janis only in small doses.

The hoarseness being intentional doesn't mean we have to like it.

So shes "faked" the hoarse vocals? thats sort of annoying...if someone has a naturally horse voice it works i.e Pink but Alicia has never had a hoarse voice...i know some people have said she has often sounded out of her range but it didnt sound hoarse, a little strained maybe but thats a different topic altogether lol

Intentionally tryin to sound hoarse is like trying to make people think shes singing passionatley and with soul and then you hear she deliberatley tried to sound like that and it feels false instead of coming from the heart.
