Releases for 2007:

Mariah
Whitney
Britney
Kelly Clarkson
Ashanti - "Incredible"
Ciara - "The Evolution"
Lauryn Hill
Mya - "Liberation"
Janet (according to some rumours)
Jennifer Lopez
Madonna

2006

Beyonce
Christina
Carrie Underwood
Gwen Stefani
Janet
Fantasia

And we thought that 2006 was bad. Talk about competition this year, i hope Mimi prevails, even if all the divas deserve their day in the sun.

2005 was pretty much Mimi's year despite Gwen, Kelly Clarkson and Madonna, stateswise. I think 2007 will be a showdown between Kelly and Mariah again. And Whitney is the dark horse (from what i've heard of "Family Comes First"- she isn't sounding good). I'm curious about what will happen to Britney and J Lo though, do you think they still have the goods?

Re: Diva releases in 2007?

to add for 2007....

Alicia Keys
Beyonce
Carrie Underwood
Faith Hill (GH)

Janet is a greatest hits.... which will probably flop.

Mariah's biggest competition is Alicia Keys, Madonna (abroad), Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and Usher. The likes of Britney, Ashanti, and Jennifer will probably be big at first... but then drop quickly. I dont think Mya, Lauryn Hill, Whitney or Janet are any competition.

Re: Diva releases in 2007?

anything ALICIA KEYS releases takes home grammys... and awards it seems like for two years haha... so she might be competition for the rnb awards...

but sales wise... KELLY and CARRIE are going to be battling it out of the american idols... everyone has waited for these two to release albums the same year.

mariah will be fine though... just dont change the formula... stick with what sold albums in 2005. no gangstas just her and the voice...

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY ... COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY... LET MARIAH SHINE AGAIN...

Re: Yep, no grammys for Mariah this year

With releases from Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Aretha Franklin, Lauryn Hill - she probably won't win.
I just hope her sales will be big. It probably won't be another 6 times platinum like "Mimi", but hopefully she'll be able to get a 3-4 platinum cerstification for the upcoming album.

I don't think Mariah will be any competition for Madonna

internationally. Universal doesn't know how to promote Mariah outside the US, and the kind of music Madonna is doing now will always sell more anyway.

That's sad for Mariah.

1. She used to sell more internationally. 'TEOM' is the only album since her debut, that didn't sell as much internationally or more.

2. International markets don't seem to be as ageist or fickle like the US, so Mariah could have a problem in a couple years.

I hope Universal will focus on the international market too. Yes, pop music sells more internationally, but there were things they could have done to improve the international sales of 'TEOM' as we both know.

Absolutely. 'TEOM' recieved virtually no promotion in

many countries. It was really disheartening to see them just throw the album and singles out there, setting them up for failure. Even "CB" promo was better in a lot of places. :(

Have clips from Whitney's album leaked?

And is that the title of her album? Or am I just being stupid. I'd be shocked to see a title of a Whitney Houston album that doesn't have "Whitney" in it though:lol

I wonder what Shania's doing...

Plus, I doubt Whitney releases anything this year... If I'm proven wrong, Clive doesn't know what he's doing with her (comeback).

POP!

Well their priority was on the U.S.

And getting her back on top. They probably had no interest in those other countries at this point since TEOM was a big success here.

Who cares about Shania Twain?!

Her new album will proabably be titled "Hey!" or "Shania!" or "Country rocks!" or "Yay!" or anything else containing a f*cking "!".

I'm sure Whitney will be releasing something this year, but I think it'll be around september or so; definitely not this Spring.
