I always thought she was cool when

she had her own show - I really liked her in her interviews with Mariah - both being long island girls they seemed to have a really good chemistry together.

Now all she seems to do is sit with her face tripping her, ranting about something. It's like her sense of humour is no longer witty - it's just venomous.

I would like to see how Mariah and Rosie interact if Mariah came back to The View for the promo of her next album. I wonder if they will have the same good chemistry, or if Rosie's more jaded attitude will cause problems.

Like, when Rosie joked about Mariah wearing a "trampy dress", Mariah made a joke of it. However, with the way Rosie seems these days, it's more likely for her to full-on attack Mariah for something like that, and I can imagine Mariah not taking it very well!

there were 2 really good contestants this evening

the son of a singer... he was absolutely amazing. his voice gave me chills!!

the back up singer was awesome, too. her voice was so smooth. she needs to gain confidence tho.

the surprise of the night was the fidel castro look-a-like. he was decent.

I liked all 3 you mentioned, and

I liked that blonde girl who did the Aretha song. I don't think she's good enough to win, but I liked her voice.

The blues guy was amazing, but his voice sounds one-dimensional. I laughed when Simon said the guy is a ton better than Taylor. He was so right about Taylor not being a success.

yeah..

:lol

"Daughtry" has sold more than Taylor :lol I do like a few songs on Taylor's CD though, "give me tonight" has a nice 80's feel to it :)

Be sure to catch Sarah Michelle Gellar's upcoming movies:

Isn't the album platinum already?

Thats definitely a cert above Clay who at least had some sort of half baked AC single. Anyway, even if Taylor doesn't go too far beyond that, it should be understandable since there isnt a radio format for his type of soul music.

It might be certified that, but

it hasn't sold anywhere near that. And Taylor should be ahead of Clay since he is hot off winning the show and thus has more hype/momentum. For him to barely be above Clay's flop ;) 2nd regular album isn't good.

From last known numbers, it's sold around

600,000. That's not an unreasonable amount to be certified platinum. Anyway, like I mentioned, Taylor doesn't have a real radio format, so for him to be selling above Clay is pretty good ;)

You can sell with things other than radio promotion

Taylor made a ton of TV appearances/performances, and he had 35 million people watch him on a weekly basis.

And 600k isn't near 1 million, especially since he isn't even top 40 anymore. Unless it somehow rebounds, the album may not reach 1 million sold in our lifetime.
*Actually, Taylor will surely perform on AI this season, so that could help him get there. Still, there is no denying his sales are disappointing. He is nowhere near any of the previous winners.

You can, but how do you think the other Idols would have

done if they had no real radio format? They wouldn't have fared any better.

And I think the fact that Taylor isn't selling as well as some had hoped without a single, shows that the massive AI audience doesn't translate that well to sales. They really need radio support

That's seems a little overdramatic. I would at least wait until he had a single that was sent and flopping, before saying something like that :lol But yeah, AI may help him

I think it can be denied. His album just came out like a month ago. With no single, around 600K sold and a platinum cert, its not too shabby at all imo.

I think we might have found the new...

William Hung. I mean, the bush baby jungle creature has gotten a lot of publicity, and some of it was sticking up for him.
I was a little surprised at Kelly Clarkson's comments on Idol recently, just because of what Simon has said about her, that she'd defend him...But anyway, this is from the AH interview they did recently.

Quote:
AH: So tell me about American Idol.
KC: Oh this is my--I was kinda excited cause I've never been able to sit down and watch it because I'm always on tour when it comes on.
AH: Yeah I remember every time I've seen you and I've asked you, you were like 'I'm on tour!'
KC: I know, and I'm not lying, I never got to watch it. And they'd ask me and I wouldn't know. But I started watching it and I have it Tivoed now. And um, I've been home and my friends and I were just cracking up. It's the best part, obviously, the beginning shows. And like people are so horrible. And it's sad. You wanna--you're like, you feel bad for laughing, but at the same time it's like, 'are you joking'? Some of them you're like 'okay you totally just wanted to be on TV'.
AH: So now what do you think, because a lot of people are giving, um, Randy, Paula, and Simon some flak because they're saying they're being too mean?
KC: They're a little harsh, yeah.
AH: So what do you think?
KC: Well, we're thinking they're being harsh, but what do you say when you're at home? *laughs*Like yeah, see that's the thing. You're calling them mean, but what is everyone saying when you're at home.
AH: It was funny, but there were two kids in there...it was a little, a little much.
KC: I haven't seen all of it yet.
AH: It seemed that they were, you know, not in the category of being made fun of.
KC: No wait no, people do tell me that they thought they were maybe, a little different, but I don't think so, cause--
AH: Really?
KC: Cause somebody pointed someone out to me, and I don't think so, I just think people are different.
AH: Yeah, I see what you're saying.
KC: Yeah, and when they're going to different parts of America, there's different people in different parts of America *laughs*. And you love them *laughs*, like they're great, and they're so passionate about it, but um...They are a little harsh you know, this time, but at the same time, what is--how many seasons is this?
AH: Six. 37 million viewers.
KC: This is like Season 6. They’ve been doing it six--and they sit all day and watch all these people come through and it’s like, you gotta give them some, you know, some credit. They’re sitting there all day and listening to…to that.
AH: Yeah, they do have a lot of auditions to listen to all over the country.
KC: Yeah so like not a justification for being mean!
AH: It has to kinda be, a little self introspective, as a potential canditate, to know that, *points to Kelly* you are what they’re looking for, not the one that sounds like he’s got a chicken you know, stuck in his throat.
KC: Well here’s the thing too. People say that it’s mean, and this is the one thing that I say. It’s like they are nothing compared to what critics are going to say about you. Or what magazines are going to say about you. Or what TV are gonna say about you.
AH: You’ve experienced it.
KC: Yeah, you’re gonna have to be able to put up with people…I mean if you think that’s mean, just stop now. Because it gets a lot worse.

only one person stuck out

my favorite was that girl who worked out alot. i loved her husky voice. she was the only one who stuck out. the rest of the ones who went to hollywood were good, but were nothing too memorale for me. appearance wise, those best friends were HOT.... espicially the first one. the simon look-a-like sounded like a woman!! i bet simon's comments will piss some people off. overall nyc was dissapointing. i expected a better crop.

I didnt think she would get through

Her voice sounded so weird and nothing that special. I thought the second best friend was hotter (and she did sound so much better than her trained pal)

I loved that opera singer though with the three voices! :eek I hope she wins :lol The fat and short girl with glasses seemed okay in the first performance and they seemed to like her. Too bad she messed up the second one.

How did that guy who sang in a female range sound? I missed the performance. Sounds like that vocal coach who sang I Don't Miss A Thing in a great, but outrageous fashion

And who was that other guy who came back? Did he get eliminated before or did he drop out? If he got eliminated before, I didnt know you could try out over and over.

And that guy who sang New York, New York, did the caption say he was in his 40s? I did a double take on that one. I thought you couldnt be over 30.
