I think the family should be entitled to something...

but 50 mil is a bit extreme. 1-2 million is more than enough.

true, but the money isnt suppose to be replace....

the person that passed. The money is suppose ease the stress on the family by covering expenses related to his death (Funeral, burial costs, starting a memorial, or fund, allow the family to take time off from work to cope etc.). Not to mention if the family didnt have life insurance for the victim, the expenses can really pile up.

It was a woman who was killed, not a man.

Her parents filed the $50 million lawsuit. In most suits, the lawyers will start out seeking a large figure but in the end, if they win the case, will be awarded much less. Additionally, the woman's husband has not decided whether he will file a separate lawsuit (which imo is completely absurd...her husband shouldn't have the option to file his own lawsuit...he should be filing jointly with her parents!)

i just think that is so american
Excuse you, but Awatif Aboudihaj is not even an American name! Could we please stop with the American stereotypes!?!? I don't think someone from another country would like it very much if an American were to say, "Oh, here we go again...this is a typical foreigner looking for a free hand out!" These types of comments are plain ignorant and rude! So please no more. Thanks!
