OH GOD!

I travelled to Azerbaijan with friends in 2014, and stayed some days in Baku. This is going to get me emotional

I really couldn't care about the most corrupt (not to mention homophobic) country in the world but yeah, I'm glad she's performing for the F1!

They have been investing A LOT of money on the last years to portray themselves as an European country. That's why there is a F1 race there, as well as the European games last year, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey doing performances, among a lot of new buildings and the boulevard in Baku.
Petrolium lost a lot of value on the market, their money lost a lot of currency value as well, but it looks like they still have loads of money to invest on this.
I cannot argue about corruption and homophobia, but the most? Maybe Top 20. I can think of worst places on Earth. They do try to portray a good image, so I don't blame Mariah for going there. It is not blatantly bad like performing for African dictators. It is a bit less bad

^PORTRAY being the operative word. They're about as genuine as a new Clowntina project. No Muslim country will ever be for equal rights lets be very clear. No matter what glossy PR company they hire.

Exactly...
A country ruled by a mafia family (literally) with lots of money and where they threaten, harass, physically attack, imprison and even kill journalists and homosexuals isn't exactly my definition of trying.

I don't think this is going to hurt her image. It certainly didn't for Gaga when she performed at the opening of the European Games

So, this is Mariah's next big event. She is going to perform at an open stage on the seaside boulevard according to the press release. I have not found any mention of a broadcast. I truly hope she is ready for a decent performance.

Well I am not expecting it since she wasn't on great form a few days ago. Hopefully she is using these opportunities to get back into the swing of performing.

This kind of event will most likely be 100% lipped anyway.

Probably for the best with all the drama and scrutiny she's been getting lately

If she sings live, hopefully she warms up and doesn't drink any alcohol before hitting the stage.

Actually, do we know if she's doing a whole set or is it gonna be just a couple of songs? Either way, I hope her voice doesn't suck.

I gonna call in into existence and say Mariah is going to nail this performance! I sure she's hear the reaction to her recent performances and wants to bring it believe in yourself girl!

Fingers crossed. After the year we had, i can only wish her good luck and not to make it a mess. I used to be excited for new performances but now I'm just nervous.

I don't know either. I have searched online and found nothing. I don't even know for sure how long her set is going to be, but some people claim it is going to be one hour
