Further explanation of the above:

1. First and foremost, we ask that all posters respect each other. Please refrain from inflammatory and defamatory comments as well as flaming, taunting, and general disrespect.

2. Allow fellow members to have their opinion. Do not simply put down the opinion or advice given by others. If you don't agree with it, say why - respectfully. Don't just tell them they're wrong. Do not make uninvited remarks about typos, duplicate posts, posting styles, etc.

3. Stay on topic. If a discussion begins to turn into something too far beyond the scope of the thread topic, please divert it to a new/appropriate thread/forum.

4. Have thoughtful responses. Be it in agreement or disagreement, please ensure your responses are not personal attacks towards another member or wholly dismissive. Further to this, posts that are simply dismissive without context or aim to provoke a negative response from a fellow poster will be removed. Save your energy for something you value rather than posting throwaway, negative comments towards fellow members.

5. Administrators and moderators reserve the right to remove posts at their discretion. While we encourage a fun environment for free-flowing discussion, posts which negatively detract from the discussions, are deemed pointless or devolve into personal attacks will not be tolerated.

6. Administrators and moderators have the final say on anything. If you disagree with a decision, respectfully discuss the matter in the Feedback & Resolutions forum. State your objections, do not personally attack the admin or mod (as is the same with any member of the community).

We are not perfect and if you feel that we have made a mistake, please privately contact a staff member or reach out via the Feedback & Resolution forum and we will review the situation. Remember to keep it civil in order to adequately have your concerns addressed.

7. Do not drag up discussions or decisions that have previously been addressed in length unless you are providing significant new information to be considered.

It’s tempting to revisit controversial decisions you disagree with, but it’s rarely productive to do so, since it almost always results in the same heated, lengthy, and time/energy draining discussions leading to the same conclusion that was reached in the last round.

8. Posting links to illegal download sites (or any such IP violating) for any artist is strictly prohibited and will result in an official warning.

9. Violation of the rules can lead to an official warning and 3 day ban from FOMM. Earning three warnings in the space of a year will result in a permanent ban from the community. In extreme cases of unruly conduct and disruptive behaviour, posters can be removed permanently. Moderators are also authorised to use cool downs on members (freezing their ability to post) if needed in order to defuse situations and restore order to discussions and board activity.

10. New members automatically enter a probation period of 200 posts in order to weed out disruptive elements. Joining FOMM to only air endless grievances against Mariah Carey or promote/defend one specific artist (such as only posting in the Rihanna thread) can be interpreted as a negative agenda and can lead to an immediate removal from the community. Therefore, new members are encouraged to make a positive and considerate first impression.

11. By posting on FOMM, you acknowledge and accept these guidelines and will, to the best of your ability, uphold them.
