Of course. It was some tiny arse theatre for a Christmas concert that realistically hardcore fans or hardcore haters would given any attention to. A whole different scale to a nationally syndicated TV show watched by millions of Americans every day. You'd reach a lot more people to be won over.

Mariah's stock as a live performer was very low even before the AIWFCIY fiasco.  If anything, I would have Mariah go on Fallon in April or so and do a skit like they did a couple years ago.  It could be epic to turn her hits into what they did for AIWFCIY.

Few other tidbits from the full interview:

she said she had bronchitis at the start of the Japan show last year.
they played the clip of her doing high notes backstage, and a clip of JTTW from Beacon (presumably to say stfu to haters)
they exchanged gifts for each other

that was basically it other than what we saw posted online yesterday

I really believe the bronchitis thing. I know a lot of people here thought she just had a miraculous recovery thanks to 'actually using her voice' but it was clear she was sick. Her voice has fluctuations but that might have been the worst we had heard it. The Ellen appearance was great! Really fun time which is what we love about her.

This is the kind of approach she needs. People forget, concerts get limited and focused press attention, mainly around launch in each territory and then fall off the radar. Blogs and papers aren't going to flood their sites/pages with a story on each show every second day. They are a one night stand affair. Getting her on a massive, wide reaching TV show for the masses will be a million times more effective than her doing great on the 7th show or whatever of a concert. The latter has limited reach and attention.

Too bad Fallon is in NY. It would be cool if throughout the residency she were able to go on his show and do versions of different #1s. As in, every Tuesday night or whatever for 1-2 months she would go on and do something with a different #1 each time (a classroom instrument one, a skit one, a thing for fans, and so on).

Y'all think Caesar's would let this big announcement be riddled with bad press? Of course not! She looked amazing - loved the short blue dress that made her look her age but great! Loved her hair! Loved that housekeeper segment and that eternal spotlight on Mariah -
It may have been wise to do a residency now that I think about it (even though I was against the idea for the longest time) but she needs this kind of support if she doesn't have proper management right now to handle another new album.
She came across really well, a little cautious when mentioning 'a new chapter' and Ellen was probably threatened to make sure the direction was all-in-all positive... I liked how they mentioned her god awful gowns and thank god she didn't wear those weird mermaid ones. I think she looks ugly in them.

She didn't come off loopy. Which was EXCELLENT. I've been so used to those bad interviews that Taylor's type A personality has been very attractive.

She's got a lot riding on this. I particularly loved the love the audience was showering on her. The non-stop love even though MC being as humble tried to quickly jump to the next topic but the fans just kept on screaming. mariah's becoming herself again, maybe! hallelujah!

so far i've only watched the short ellen tube video though so can't say much yet. hope mariahdaily will have the full version to download. also, my local tv has yet to air it. My pvr didn't record it - I did get the julianna margulies one - i don't they didn't skip her episode!
