Talking about the separation/divorce on Ellen is bad pr imo, save that for Oprah or Babs.

I have a feeling this will be about the Las Vegas shows.
I don't think it can be ignored and it should be discussed briefly, also the Rockefeller performance.

If this appearance is to promote the Las Vegas residency, the best way to deal with it PR wise would be to acknowledge that she's had a very rough year, but that the Beacon performances, the holiday break and now LV has given her full focus back on music/fans and that she couldn't be more excited.

No details, no shade.

It CAN be ignored. I don't think Ellen is mean enough to harp on that. They will certainly talk about dem babies and maybe Mariah will mention the abandoner in passing or not (I would be a little disappointed if she doesn't build a quick shade into a good joke about the situation though), but I doubt Ellen will bring it up without first clearing it with Mariah. Besides, what rough year? As far as she's concerned, she released a long-waited album her fans loved, just came from a successful international tour, shared a lovely Christmas shows with her fans, dem babies are growing up adorably, and now she's going to Vegas to put on some fabulous shows and parties on that ridiculous trailer.
It can but it shouldn't. The last thing that went viral was the Rockefeller performance, before that the Japan concerts, and before that the divorce.

You are talking from a fan's perspective, we were talking about PR perspective - to make the general public excited for the residency (the public didn't care for the album, or that the rest of the tour and the Xmas shows were great, dem babies, etc).

This will be interesting. I agree that Ellen isn't the right platform to finally speak out on her marriage and it wouldn't really be Mariah's style to do so anyway. Unfortunately, it will be a difficult interview if she isn't there to discuss that as obviously Ellen will want that kind of info over anything else. Remember the champagne/pregnancy debacle on her show? smiley: eyes

NOT Mariah promoting the Vegas stint more than the album ykw!
Because of an appearance on Ellen?
It's still more than the album got after it came out.

It's not more than a prime time special and an Asia/Australia tour.

I don't think it's a good idea to just go on there and cry a river about her "rough" year..: she just needs to go on there talk about the residency and how the kids are doing and her holiday shows... And honestly I think the best thing for her to do now is to get some performances out there that will rock people's socks in a good way. This will be what will erase or at least do some kind of damage control over the Rockafella and Japan performances. She can leave the details of the divorce for a more serious interview, if she even wants to go public... Which at this point I don't think She will. If it does come up it will probably be brief. And as for her promoting this... I don't see why not... Plus I'm sure it's part of the contract... To get people in seats. I still see it as music related since it's her performing, and not just her trying to sell a movie, fragrance, or kool-aid.

Mariah Carey, Dax Shepard

She's "#Beautiful," filled with "Emotions" and one of the biggest pop stars of all time. MARIAH CAREY is here for one very “sweet day” on Ellen! With 14 studio albums and five Grammys to her name, the legendary chanteuse took the radio by storm when she made her debut, and has consistently delivered with hit after hit and tour after tour. Mariah's personality is as vibrant as her artistry, and whether she's chatting about her kids, showing off her fabulous style, or demonstrating perfume techniques, she never fails to amuse our host and her audience. The singer returns to catch up and share some big news!

I guess it's safe to say it'll be about Las Vegas.

After reading the Ellen write up... I hope they go with the 25th anniversary theme for the residency!!! It'll be a great way to get her legacy out there...this along with some great performances can be what she needs. Then she can take a break to finish a new album and comeback strong!

Yeah sorta like when she performed it on The View while promoting #1's.

If her 25th Anniversary is not the theme then she fails.

If she performed "Emotions," intro and all, with Ellen dancing around in/with the audience to it?

SLAY.

Yeah exactly. She won't though. But she needs a solid performance to show the general public she's still got it otherwise that AIWFCIY debacle will linger over her.

If she went on Ellen and performed "There's Got to Be a Way" I'd piss myself. It's the perfect song after the terrorist attacks in France.

She can do her own #rebelheart tea
