This news outlet out of Vegas always has the inside information regarding upcoming acts.  They were one of the first to report about Britney, Celine, and Shania's shows... amongst other things.

NO J.LO RESIDENCY … YET! A top Caesars Entertainment official told me that the hotel group would love to have J.Lo perform 30 shows a year at the Colosseum, but her financial demands make it an impossible business transaction. It was rumored that she charged well more than $1 million for her 80-minute NYE show. She almost missed the midnight countdown, joining it just seven seconds before the confetti and balloons fell over the invited audience.

“There’s no way the numbers can work out for a residency with just 4,000 seats. She’s an arena act now, but hopefully one day she’ll see the advantages of staying put in one place for less money than touring,” I was told, putting an end to wild speculation that she’s en route to Las Vegas for a residency.

MARIAH RUMORS: As a result, I’m getting early rumors now in earnest that in two weeks, Caesars will announce five-time Grammy Award winner Mariah Carey as the new headliner at the Colosseum with her hit songs “We Belong Together,” “One Sweet Day” and many, many, many more. (Expect to see Boyz II Men from the Mirage drop by as a surprise, if true.)

No comment whatsoever from Caesars execs that Mariah, who has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, will be named to fill in some of the vacant dates while Celine Dion is away still caring for her husband Rene Angelil battling throat cancer. Mariah just separated from husband Nick Cannon. They have two children together.

Probably the best solution for her though given her current state -- she doesn't waste a bunch of money traveling around without an album to promote and to recoup those costs with. Thirty shows in a year is not bad either -- like two shows a week max.  Were those basically year-round sell outs for Celine?

I'd go see her live there as long as it wasn't lip-synch hell like Celine's show.

I can't see her wanting to spend an extended amount of time in Vegas, but who knows...

^^ Yeah true, that would be the the one big negative for a NY girl like her. I wonder if those 30 dates are all for one particular leg or spread out? Is there someone else filling in the rest of the time or is that the idea here, someone fills in for Celine until March-ish?

We have no idea what her actual financial situation is and how much she needs this but still I kind of hope she doesn't go the Vegas route.Especially not now, after so much global media and Inet slamming about her voice, that will sound like a retirement, not to mention what she'll have to swallow if ,after the said worldwide coverage of her vocal issues, the Vegas tickets don't exactly sell like hot cakes.

I get the whole "perception is reality" thing when it comes to what it says about you as an artist/brand when you do a residency, but at what point does it become the right move then for her? In five years? Ten? Never?

In my opinion and perception, any stablished artist doing a Vegas residency sends a message of "forget my days as a relevant hitmaker, now I'm an old act". Which is fine when you're Elton John or Cher.

But the question should be if Mariah is not already in that place in her career, Vegas residency or not. Can she still have a hitmaker career? Does she still l have a shot at radio success after all these years? If the answer is yes, then she should reject any offer of a Vegas residency show and invest all her tome and talent at that. If the answer is no, I don't see a problem with having a residency, as long is a well-produced show.

I hope to god not. these do nothing for Anyone's career. As someone mentioned, these are usually seen as a last hoorah for artists. If she trys to coincide an album release along with the show it will BOMB. As she will give it the Britney treatment and barely promote. Her lack of care for her image and video treatments will suffer even more. If she does decided to do this. She needs to focus on her old catalog and not attempt to rush release anything to go with this mess.

Las Vegas Sun: Mariah heading to Vegas?

She's reportedly getting paid $30 million for the residency and I would expect a percentage of the ticket sales. She'll make more from the residency than if she has a hit single or album.

Las Vegas Sun: Mariah heading to Vegas?

the Las Vegas Sun is reporting that Mariah will be using the Elusive Chanteaus Tour as the basis for this "mini residency".

The Internet went ballistic this morning with rumblings from New York to Europe and also Las Vegas that 45-year-old superstar singer Mariah Carey is headed to the Strip with a mini-residency.

We reported it Jan. 1, so it took everybody else, including my gossip rivals, six days to play catch-up. We have Britney Spears to thank for changing the perception of Las Vegas residencies being only for the older set.

The gossip gurus at Page Six of the New York Postreported that Mariah is finalizing negotiations and is about to sign a deal for a Caesars Palace residency that’s reportedly worth more than Britney’s two-year deal at Axis at Planet Hollywood.

I’m hearing that Mariah could bring her show to the Colosseum quickly if the deal is inked because it would be the continuation of her recent tour “The Elusive Chanteuse” in Asia and Australia.

In Adelaide, Australia, in November, Mariah was in a super-short skirt and baring and daring cleavage. In Sydney, her opening medley was packed with video shoots, including a well-staged kung-fu fight with another woman that did Mariah proud with her Jackie Chan and James Bondversions of acrobatic ability and agility.

“The Elusive Chanteuse” was Mariah’s eighth concert tour but a short one that began in Tokyo on Oct. 4 and ended in Brisbane, Australia, on Nov. 16. It was to support her 14th studio album “I Am Mariah.”

Australian critics heaped praise on Mariah: “The voice that we all came to adore throughout the 1990s was back. She even hit those famous piercingly high whistle notes and performed those signature vocal gymnastics with ease. She hasn’t just got it — she flaunts it.”

There also are rumors I reported on Twitter that the diva will bring with her to Las Vegas her newly purchased $1.8 million, two-story mobile estate with 1,200 square feet of living space complete with a nightclub.

Mariah is said to be filling in for some of the dark nights that Celine Dion has given up in order to care for her husband, Rene Angelil, in his fight against throat cancer. Like Celine, Mariah has twins, 3-year-olds Monroe and Moroccan, and they may well wind up playing together.

I guess we'll see if it happens whether it was a smart idea or not. One nice thing for me is that I can fly there in like an hour though lol.

This is kinda like A.I. to me. You first go, wha-..why? Then you can't help but acknowledging that 8 million is big money. Mariah is a practical gal. She's always been in it for the business.

30 mil and just for a short residency will make her look good, I think. The Way Idol was with those 18 mil. She''ll get a LOT of money which she will never ever again get from her future music and since she's not had any endorsement deals for quite a while now, this doesn't look like something she'll pass although she once said , if I remember correctly, something about not exactly loving casino crowds.Plus, she''ll be able to stay in one place for a while with two small kids, unless she flies to NY all the time.

I just don't know about the dry weather there.

If the residency goes into 2026 then I might revisit Vegas again.
