It's a very fair assumption to think that most every song Mariah wrote for these other artists, especially earlier in her career, were demo'd or completed records done by here first. Where dem at? Next year is the 25th anniversary, I want things like those demos, the original demo takes, famous alternate takes we know exist (IDWC, HERO, Dreamlover), unreleased material she's been saving, new remixes, remastered debut album andthe original VOL video. PLEASE LAWD MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!! Let's sign a petiton, do a FB, Twiter, stret team, whatever it takes!! I want us all to access our inner Gawain's and get it done!

Let me clock you a bit:

Bruce Springsteen sampled 'Dreamlover' on a song from a 2002 album of his.
Gucci Mane sampled 'Can't Let Go' on a remix to a song he did for a mixtape 'Danger's not a Stranger'.

I don't think I've heard the song. What part did he sample?

I keep arguing that she won't give permission for Austin Mahone to release "Shawty Shawty" since she's never allowed anyone to sample any of her music like that.  "Shawty Shawty" legit samples "Always Be My Baby", and up until now has only been performed live.  He's released like 5 or 6 singles and no album though so I don't know.

I'm of a mixed opinion on this. Mariah is definitely stingy about letting artists sample her work and about letting her songs be used in TV, movies, etc. (either in their original form or in being covered). While I get some of that (you want to protect the credibility of something you wrote), I think she's too stingy to the point that it hurts her legacy. "AIWFCIY" being used in Love Actually, for instance, really aided the popularity/endurance of that classic. That sort of thing could happen for other songs of hers if she'd let it. She didn't allow "Fantasy" to get used in Glee, for instance, so "I Still Believe" was used instead. That could have been due to how they wanted to use "Fantasy" (i.e. the Nicki feud), so I get it. But that might also stop Glee people from asking to use other songs of hers. And before anyone responds, I know Glee isn't as popular as it used to be and is sort of a crappy show, but it's also a show watched by young people who may not be overly familiar with her 90s work. I'd love to see "Heartbreaker" or even something like "Love Takes Time" used on the show.

It's called 'Let's Be Friends'. Apparently it's very subtle, but it's there.

Thanks. The female singing on it actually sounds a bit like Mariah, but those aren't vocals from "Dreamlover." I don't really hear "Dreamlover" in that song. I also don't see Mariah credited as a writer on the song on AMG.

I think it's in the drum and some elements of the melody.

Isn't the drum loop what Mariah had sampled?

Anyway, there isn't any sort of credit for a sample or other writers if this is accurate:
http://aln2.albumlinernotes.com/The_Rising.html
It says all songs were written by Springsteen (solo), and it doesn't then provide any sample credits. Where are people getting that "Dreamlover" is sampled?

Uhh Mario did you just IMPLY he sampled the drumbeat or do the credits actually say he sample dit. Cause while the beat resembles it, it's a pretty basic beat and it's not exactly the same.
I don't buy it.

Plus also, she sampled the beat to begin with;)

Didn't he just sample it on that? Or am I thinking of another song?

I can hear some "Butterfly" similarities in there, but I don't think that's technically a sample.  I actually hear "Petals" in there too to be honest.

Has Mariah ever let anyone officially "sample" one of her songs?

Then why would it be registered with BMI?

Idk.   Maybe I'm wrong then.

Never heard the Gucci Mane song before.  Loved it.  My theory goes out the window.
