I really like the album. Toni sounds amazing. The production is great. The album is very cohesive but not samey. Melodically it's strong. There isn't really any song I don't like. And I love that "Take It Back" has "By Your Side" vibes. Only drawback is the robotic sounding Babyface but Toni slays so I'll overlook him.

Has anyone seen Toni's movie Twist of Faith?

Is that the Lifetime one where she's dating the white preacher of whatever?

Well obviously since I described it smiley: laugh but I wasn't really paying attention to it, I remember she was kinda bitter in the beginning though and the white man was nice, but that's about it.

I'm going to echo the assessments that this is a "solid" album. I like the running time -- it's just about right for an album this style and there really isn't anything that overstays its welcome or is too weak. Toni sounds gorgeous in the production. (Please solo album)

Rollercoaster, Sweat, and The D Word are the biggest standouts for me. "Reunited" and "Heart Attack" are cute retro/disco-y tracks that go down pretty easy. Toni's vocal on "Where Did We Go Wrong" is pretty, I love her head voice in it and wish Babyface wasn't trying to match it :/. "I Wish" is the funniest combination of a beautiful ballad and a ghetto revenge song that I've ever heard lol.

Hey, I already like it more than Beyonces album lol.

This album is giving me modern 90's R&B awesomeness!!!! Thanks dahlings for making a thread on it, otherwise I would not have known of such a release. ^3^

Mariah should have done something on here... Goes and adds ETICME to the playlist...

Agreed about WDWGW - I'm not huge on the song, particularly because of Babyface's falsetto just sounds horrible. I love the concept of the album though. It works so well. I like her album but this is much stronger than Tamar's album overall.

I think I prefer Tamar's album for now, because there's a group of songs I can't get into. The solo ones for example and 'Reunited'.

Maybe they'll grow on me with more plays.

Yeah there are songs I can't get into either - but I would say there are more songs on Tamar's album that I can't get into as well.

Comes with the territory these days - once in a blue moon these days where there's an album that has more than 75% of it that I love smiley: laugh

I know what you mean!  Elle Varner's mixtape is the first time in years where I think I loved almost every song on a release.

I remember that on BFV. Where I think she was writing the song with Babyface and she said it's something she/women hope for because she doesn't wish him to die, just get a disease. lol.

^I watched that episode last night.

He was like "What do you mean a disease?" and she was like "You know, nothing major, nothing that some penicillin can't clear up" I love her.

I love 7 songs on Tamar's album and 5 on Toni's. I think I'll end up liking them equally.

Does anyone else hear a LOT of Sade's "By Your Side" in "Take It Back"?

YAS!! We've already discussed this

Every track on the album has been uploaded on VEVO! Very smart imo. The album is up to #2 on iTunes after entering at #5.

Toni and Kenny will be on GMA tomorrow.
