What is up with all the Britney shade? I don't see the Legendary Miss Britney Spears in this thread. Just a cheap stan who did her no justice. Let's not trash the innocent.

You can state what your change would be and we can shade you to the ground should it not be to our liking?

To be honest, Mariah is giving us a hard time to stan for her. What is the point of coming here everyday to check airplay and everything else when there is absolutely nothing going on and it seems like she not concerned about her music career, neither is her management team?

I think we need to hold off. It seems obvious this single is going to be replaced by another track in the run up to launch for April/May. THEN I fully expect all guns blazing from all parties (Mariah, label, management, etc). If not, then.....well smiley: embarassed

I think this is the problem with Mariah fans in general though - it's as much about the success is about the music. If 'YM' was blazing up the charts, most peoples' interest would be reignited. And it was when 'B' was doing well.

Are you over Mariah?

Funny thing is, half her fans weren't even fans when she was ruling radio or Billboard.

I know I wasn't, and I've definitely gotten caught up in the hype in the past but at this point, 15 years in, I could care less.

I LOVED Triumphant when it came out and truly believed it would be a huge hit haha but it wasn't and I still loved it, still do. Same with Almost Home although not quite as much. TAOLG is the same deal but I knew it wouldn't be a hit after I heard it. In YM's case, my interested has waned because it's not a song I love, to me it's kinda like one of the JD ballads on E=MC2, nice but forgettable.

I think the same lambs realise that the success won't be guaranteed anymore, it's the fucking psychos that live in Twitter land that are deluded.

^Me neither actually. I never even knew who she was until #1s. I remember hearing ISB lipped on TOTP, and that was the first single that I bought of hers, leading me to buy #1s. Then Heartbreaker came out, and the first album I actually bought of hers was Rainbow. I didn't become a proper stan until Glitter was about to come out. So really I've only been a true fan during the periods when she's struggled commercially (with the exception of 'TEOM').

I was a fan since 1993 but too young to understand/know about the charts and her success. That was the great thing about being a kid, it was pure about the music.
No access to the internet, a random special on TV was all I ever saw of her.
When she was all over the news in 2001 with her "fall from grace" that's when I only started to realize how huge she had been, and by the time WBT came out I had just started to really find out about her chart history and then she was smashing again with TEOM.

That's about the same for me, though I knew lead singles from Emotions and the Daydream singles because they were the only ones played on Australia radio/that were successful. #1's was the first album I got my mother to buy for me haha, then I liked Heartbreaker and that got me interested (but I hated TGIFY) and then I became a full on lamb when Loverboy came out.

I have vague memories of songs like 'Hero' or 'Without You' but I didn't really know who it was singing. Plus, Mariah sounded so different in 93 compared to how she did in 99/00, it could well have been a different person singing.

I remember my dad used to play 'My All' a lot and I remember liking it but again not knowing who it was who was singing. I still thought she was saying 'I'd give my arm, to have just one more night with you' though

Yeah I'm not sure how I knew who she was. I knew Mariah Carey sang Hero, Fantasy, One Sweet Day, Always Be My Baby, Honey etc but I had no idea about her success in the US etc. I knew she was clearly popular and a great singer but otherwise that was it, I can even remember when I first discovered her level of success... It was actually probably when I bought the #1's video, with that blurb on the back listing her chart achievements.

I only had a radio/alarm clock around 1995 so I remember hearing Fantasy on the radio and turning it up every time it came on!!! I also remember Hero was her because I wanted it to be our 5th grade continuation song but they went with Greatest Love of All. I was pressed!!! I remember Dreamlover but I thought it was someone else trying to copy Miims vocal styles lol!! I also remember hearing Can't Let Go but didn't know at that point who it was. It wasn't until later on in 1998-1999 when I went on a Mariah binge and was buying her back catalog like crazy that I was like OMG it's her that was singing all these songs. I use to think Whitney had a whistle register but was surprised when I was going through all her actual songs and she never did it. It was Miims I was hearing all along. smiley: laugh yay for me!!! \o/

I was aware of her success and how massive she was though. I use to get Alamancs, Newspapers, Rolling Stone, to get her achievements and record breaking moments. All before I had Internet. lol

Simply put shes like one of those office workers. Shes got a man shes got kids. She in a comfortable spot in her career where she can do what the fu(k ever she wants and that is being complacent. The womans got it made and any interview or appearance shes on is more of a bother to her than a necessity. Shes purley about the music and not the spectacle of what it takes to propel that music to a higher status. Ive been a fan since Daydream I was a more a casual listener in the 8th grade. Honey era made me a stan. I didn't even know she hit those high octave notes herself until she was on oprah during the #1's era I thought it was all studio effects and not humanly possible. The rest was history from there.
