The girl on American Idol last night with the bright lipstick slayed my life with her version of "It's A Man's Man's Man's World." That might be the best rendition I have ever heard; the choices she made were incredible (that "but it wouldn't be nothing without a woman oooor aaaa girl" smiley: eek).

Top ten girls and guys sing for their life. Tonight, ladies first.

Some girl just did Wrong Side Of A Love Song. It was over the top terrible. And Harry called her out on it.

Theme spoilers for week 1 and week 2 are This Is Me and Home. Very vague. It's assumed that the second theme means a song with the word "home" in it.

I watched this for the first time this season, last night and I wasn't impressed at all with the females.

I don't get this format of not letting the other 5 girls sing. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the girls the judges didn't pick would've been better than the ones selected.

The girl who did Roar. No words. And no, she doesn't get extra points for continuing after her stumble. You can't work the stage in five inch heels, don't wear them!

I don't like this format either. They should have just dropped the Randy workshop part and let the five girls sing.

Yeah, last night was awful overall, and almost none of them were as good as they have been. Part of it was that format where they found out they made it and suddenly had to perform in front of a live audience and on stage for the first time.

My favorite might have been the girl who did the Grace Potter song and got attacked by Harry for it. What was his deal? I liked her answer about why she chose the song, and I like the attitude she brought to it. And at least she stayed in tune, which was better than most of the girls. I also didn't get Harry going in on that girl regarding "Paint It Black." She wasn't wrong when she said it's about darkness. I think Harry just likes to try and show off and hear himself talk. It's annoying.

In general I didn't get the song choices. "Roar" is not a song you choose to introduce yourself to "America" on, and "Happy" isn't exactly vocal/artistic showcase either. MK had the best song choice of the night with "All of Me" because it fit into her [limited] range well and allowed for emotional impact.

Idol not even doing 10 mil viewers. RIP

Over-all viewers don't matter at all, but it doing a 2.7 in 18-49 for a live Wed. night episode is death for the series. The flop episodes of Mariah's season were much higher and that was much further along in the season.

It's still one of FOX's most watched shows, though, right? I mean, Glee gets like half those viewers and is still around. I can see Idol going another season. It's about whether it's making the network money. People have been saying it's over for like 5 years running now

A FOX exec said the season will likely be one month shorter, be once a week, and that they will be cutting costs wherever they can.  i doubt jlo will be returning.

hopefully next season is its last, but i have a feeling that it won't be.  they r probably going to run it to the ground.

I was done with this show after last season. This is the only season that I haven't watched the show at all the entire season and it looks like I'm not the only one. There is absolutely no hype for this show in the media.

Are the top 10 contestants any good this season? Whomever wins will probably flop.

This is top three.  That's all you need to know about  how bad it's been this season.

Airing from 8-9PM, the one-hour “Voice” recap (and precursor to the live finale) drew a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating with 7.41 million viewers. The hourlong “Idol” performance show drew just a 1.7 with 6.61 million viewers.

Idol's Tuesday night finale was down 45% from the previous year and was the lowest rated show in the history of American Idol.

----

Fast National ratings give the two-hour American Idol finale a 2.6 rating with adults 18-49 and 10.2 million viewers. In the key demographic, that's a 28 percent drop from last season.
