It was Linda Perry who told her not to do the Mariah acrobatics.
It always ennoys me, when people talk about Mariah that way.
It also happens a lot on these talent shows like Idol, The Voice, X-Factor, etc.
"Don't do all those Mariah acrobatics..." smiley: eyes

To anyone who tried to hate on me: shout out, shout out
Even the one's who tried to break me, even the one's who tried to take me down
There've been haters since this world been going 'round:
nothin' but love, nothin' but love
Ain't got nothin' but love

Yeah and they always seem to imply that Mariah exaggerates with the melisma and bealts. What they should be saying though is something like "if you can't do Mariah runs, just don't try them 'cause they are going to sound awful".

I don’t want no cake on my birthday, errday errrday.

Well, the reason those type of comments bother me is that they show a lack of understanding for Mariah's gift for melody. Mariah's vocal runs usually accent the main melody; she is doing a melodic run that comes off the main melody. That is very different from someone like Christina who just does random vocal runs that serve no melodic or emotional purpose. Because Mariah's vocal style led to people like Christina, Jessica, and Beyonce doing vocal runs, Mariah takes heat for it. But most of the people Mariah influenced aren't doing vocal runs in the same manner that Mariah does.

Christina Aguilera saying....

I was going to Mariah Clowntina is the evil queen of vocal runs! They sound horrible I always get uncomfortable watching her perform live. Even listen to stripped when it first came out I remember wanting to hear her hold a note and apply some vibrato and instead all I got on the ballads were oohahhuhhwhoaohhwhoaohhohhohhohh, it was like 'eugh shut up!'

Y'all are overreacting. I though that it was kind of a compliment. She did say, "I love that Mariah ####," acknowledging that she is a fan of Mariah's style of singing.

LOL. I didn't realize that this board had an automatic censor. I didn't type it that way.

^Yes, but we are responding to why it was phrased as "Don't do all that Mariah shiit" and how Clowny fails at her attempts to do that Mariah shiit even though she loves doing it.

Wasn't she just quoting the producer when she said "Don't do all that Mariah ish"?

Yes, and we are wondering why people would say it like that as a negative instead of "Don't try to imitate Mariah because you won't be able to." So yes, we are taking issue with Linda Perry and her comment.

Jesus that video, I always liked the album versions of some of those songs better. Xtina sounded a damn fool on some of that.

I'll have you know that I accidentally texted my fiance "G-D D-AMNIT STOP F-UCKING A" during one of the clowns worst moments. The text was meant for my best friend, since we were discussing it. : :

Exactly. I think Kelly Rowland is actually closer to Mariah's style of adlibs than any of those singers

Those judges say "Stop doing those Mariah acrobatics" because no other then Mariah can pull them off in the right way.
So it would always come off ridiculous and over the top when someone does them.

what's pathetic here is she's trying to discredit someone by using someone else's name to try make a point. staggering heights of grudge-holding & insecurity.

what's funny though is she actually just admitted (yet again smiley: laugh) she's been nothing but a failure of a mimic to Mariah's style all her life.

I knew when I first read that people would take it the wrong way.
Considering the comment came with but I love that or her (meaning the vocal tricks). I don't think it was a diss by XTina for once.
Sorry I forgot the whole quote.
