Sometimes its also about how creative some of these musicians can be
It neednt boil down to their last hit, unless its JD lol

Q-Tip is a genius in his own right! And if Mariah wants to do an out and out REVIVE R&B album. Then this is just GREAT!

So true. Mariah could work with all of the hitmakers in the land, and it wouldn't be right unless there was true chemistry.

YASS! Honey is obviously one of her hottest songs. We all know Diddy was just a front and it was really Q-tip and Stevie J. that did all the work on it.

I agree that it doesn't matter when someone last did 'something of note', Mariah's worked with 'hot' producers with terrible results (Neptunes, Stargate, Danja), I'd rather she works with people she feels a connection to than the latest hitmaker.

I agree with this, the Neptunes work was not that great for TEOM.

This is exciting news. Hopefully something great is created by her and some producer to be released after Triumphant.

I just hope she can break her rule of 1st single being mid tempo/up tempo and 2nd single being a ballad. I feel after Triumphant up tempo song needs to be released not a ballad.

I'm all for her working with Q-Tip. You don't hear his name so much these days, but most of what he has done as part of a Tribe Called Quest, collabs with other artists, and his solo work have all been good. He's probably one of the most consistent artists/producers out there.

You think her work with Danja, The Neptunes, and Stargate  was terrible.
What do think is good? lol

Exciting news. I really do love that she is working with a wide(ish) bunch of producers and the album is still a while away so there could be room for even more. A nice, varied collection of R&B tracks are the kind of energy she needs on the new album.

I'm excited Q-Tip has produced some amazing songs and they worked really well together. It's been well over a decade since they worked together and if they both bring their A Game we should get something fresh.

I want BMC (and JD) awaaay from Mariah. Not because their single isn't doing well, I've just never been a big fan of them not even during the TEOM days and I've been tired of them ever since... Just let it be her, Q tip and Ray. Let them do their thing without BMC. Still excited about the news though!

Edit: Just read the tweet on MDJ. It wasn't a BMC tweet but it was Ray Angry tweeting BMC? Good.. very good!

Ray’s incredible career has seen him work with the best in jazz, classical, gospel/R&B, and hip-hop. He was the musical director for Lauryn Hill, Joss Stone, and Kelis, has played with Whitney Houston, Prince, Talib Kweli, Roy Hargrove, Esperanza Spalding, written songs for Melanie Fiona and Christina Aguilera, and regularly plays on Jimmy Fallon with The Roots. Ray most recently produced for the Roots Undun album and played with D’Angelo for his recent dates in Europe.
