The sound was a mess and so unprofessional. She could hardly be heard when she sang the second chorus.

She sounded great singing TMB, ABMB and WBT. Triumphant just didn't translate well live. Props to her for trying to make something of the performance because it was a hard song to sing considering all the layering, intricacies that the song has. But that's that now. Onwards and upwards.
Agreed, especially with the bolded part. Which is why I think she needs to look more into that whole audio system, whoever arranges her tracks, the audio mixing and all these technical issues. They need to get it right for once. She's like constantly plagued by such issues, and it's a shame because she's currently in good voice but it doesn't show. smiley: tired

They better fix this %%%$ for her future performances. Especially the one on Idol where she'll do her real single. Everything needs to be on point, she can't afford to face similar technical problems. I'm gonna get roasted for saying this, but I wish her people were as organized and professional as Beyoncé's. That b!tch always comes off sounding and looking picture perfect.

Mariah constantly has 'sound' issues when she either mimes or wants her background singers to sing over her.

When Mariah sang out, I heard her just fine. Let's not make excuses for the "Triumphant" performance, as the other 3 sound just fine.

^ Exactly. She always shines on these impromptu performances where she is just adlibing with no track to follow to.

Probably because she was lipping it.  You can hear her coming in at the end, the reach for the stars part.

I'm one of the ones who think she sounded fine on the live bits.  I just didn't like the whole concept of the performance with Mike Meek just sitting there and the video in place of Mariah on stage singing the adlibs and first chorus.

I don't know if it's the sound quality or not, but I think she sounded way better on TMB than on Triumphant. The Triumphant performance was the last one on the set, right? I assume her voice got tired or something. She was still great in the beginning of the show.

Absolutely! It's just shocking what kind of people get paid to take care of her performances!
The technical failures are a ever-present must already! There's just always sth! You'd think the notorious  televised "stop singing my part now, baby" remix would have brought  a real change!
I don't know how she can be not aware of these issues and not have them solved. She's got millions and a status to protect.
If she doesn't have the best technical support on Idol and  sounds a mess when performing there , it will hardly be a situation where the usual "whatever, moving on/next" comments will be suitable.
Btw, LOL at calling her next single-'the real single")People got severely  injured here with their whole families heavily insulted when trying to define what the hell kind of single Triumphant is.
Btw, you are absolutely right about Knowles having all aspects of her performances professionally covered!
Someone who was at the Triumphant video shoot posted here how aware Mariah was of all techical aspects of the shoot.
It's hard to explain why it's so different with her  music performances.

Btw, who are the female background singers?

Mary Ann, Takeeta and Trey.
Thanks,though, Trey's not supposed to be a female:)lol
Wow, Mary Ann seems to be 1/3rd of her former self,no?
Is this Takeeta girl new?I don't think she's one of the usual suspects.

Other then the video looking cheap and her ackward posing... It wasn't that bad. She looked great, her part was ok, vocally she had some good moments and then of course back up track. Atleast she tried something creative an in attempt to make the song be performed live since she does come in after 2 mins. I hope she continues on this path of putting more effort, just as long as it gets better, and more polish of course.... I guess we can say girl just has to get better taste lol.

No, I don't hope she continues on the path of hiding behind backing singers, and bad vocals and performances where she's hardly in it.smiley: laugh

LOL i didn't mean that path! She's been doing that since the early 00's and yes the video was done extremely cheap, but the choreography of the dancers, and her entrance are a bit better quality then the last tour and performances, she's had. She just needs to find a balance, however, I doubt we would find it now with triumphant, but going back to my main point atleast she filmed something new which is showing more effort, before she would have just played the video(granted most would have enjoyed it MUCH more this time around!!) they just need to get it together with the quality of the balance!

At the end of the day... The performance set up did not translate well... This is more a creative issue, like mentioned before, she needs to find a good quality balance when creating something new for a performance, there's this issue and having a song where she starts at 2 mins I think they bit on more then can chew!

Takeeta is not a regular (I wish she was smiley: eyes ), but how can you not remember her from the band intros of Charmbracelet Tour? smiley: tongue She's been occasionally working with Mariah since 2001, I believe, after Nicki left to backup for Madonna.

i was there standing next with those fans up above her... we COULD NOT HEAR A DAMN THING... really... just the band - there were no speakers for us lol but I did get to watch her and hear her and could clearly tell when she lipped her bits... and got to see her get revved up for all her performances before it all began... but glad it all sounded better on TV
