OK you are right...but sometimes I really wonder if I am the only one who HEARS all that...Mariah is a perfectionnist to death...I am just so surprised...

Yeah, its weird that she even settled with that terrible video in the beginning.
The lipped bits were lower again as if she has a bunch of idiot sound people who always MESS it up for her

Drama queens make this forum hilarious! Keep up the bitchiness. Complaining about 24 seconds of lipping is very drama queenesque because lipping is something to be expected now. Lippings is pretty much guaranteed with Mariah to some extent, you just got to get to the point in your fan life to accept its here to stay. I use to whine about Mariah lipping so I guess I'm a kettle. Mariah use to be a perfectionist maybe, but how can she continue with that work ethic when her voice is far from perfect now? You want Mariah to cancel a live performance coz she's having an off day or what? What do you propose she do?
Excuse me? you ok?
What I said was very valid..Why are you singling me out?
The video in the beginning was pathetic. Asking her sound folks to be on top of the 'sound issues' is hardly behaving like a drama queen, I just practically accepted the lipping to go on forever.
What delusional world do you live in where everything she does is the greatest?

I think she sounded a mess on the bridge, but like others have pointed out, the song doesn't work live.
The dramatic ones in here need to take a few pills because you are WAYYYY overreacting. There are some nice little adlibs etc. she does that shows that she's still in a good stage vocally, she always sounds shaky at the start of her concerts too and needs to warm up. With a performance like this that just ain't happening.

The bridge was the only bit of the song that she actually sang bar the adlibs and to be honest was the bit I expected her to sound decent in smiley: laugh I'm not overreacting like some though, the song was always going to be a mess live.

I don't think she sounded good on TMB either though, clearly a bad vocal day for her. Compared to recent performances.

I think the performance had potential. If her vocals were in better shape she could have come out on stage with her ad libs during Rick Ross' verse and killed them. The audio was way off though. Some of her breathy ad ;libs were really loud and then some of her full voices stuff was really soft. The whole things seems really low, yet those high notes were pristine and loud. Something way weird was happening with the audio.

DEAD @ her fake waving to the empty darkness outside the limo. smiley: roll That footage was a nice addition. And those high-notes at the end. That's all I *should* say about the performance.

Oh, and looking at the photos on MDJ... I'm afraid many of them will came back to haunt us with several photoshop work involved by the certain fan bases, lol. Someone should tell her to get rid of that painful/suffering face while performing.

She should have just used a totally LIVE sounding backing track like ISIL at the AMA'S
The whole song!
Its justified for shows like this because the sound usually does suck

It just makes me wonder if it's almost like a gamble game when it comes to her voice. Like if she's on a good vocal day she's just lucky or something?
I imagine that she would have taken care of her voice for such an important event, and if it still comes out sounding like this then I guess it just wasn't her luck.

Yeah I don’t know her voice is very unpredictable. It pretty much has been since the Butterfly era. Remember on the Rainbow tour where she wasn’t great for most of it but some dates were incredible. I wonder what she did differently around those dates to make sure her voice was in good condition, or if it is just a case of some days it’s good, some days it’s not.

I guess we can only speculate, since none of us (despite what some claim) actually know how much Mariah does to take care of her voice.

This.

And the 'Triumphant' performance was sort of a mess. Why the hell wasn't she there to sing the first chorus? Her entrance was good, but it should've happened at the first chorus imo.

^It would have been better if she had actually stripped away all the wailing backing vocals and sang the chorus herself. But I doubt she would have been able to pull that off given her voice last night.

It was just... people were complaining she wasn't in the song enough, so she gets the backing singers to sing the chorus, leaving the bridge and some adlibs

I had forgotten she did this performance. I guess I can go back to forgetting it now. I'm sure every possible comment has already been given, so NEXT!

^no actually I HAVE TO add this: @ the whole video story of her being late. So THAT is the reason she came up with a song in which only rappers take care of the first part! It finally makes sense. now.... NEXT!

The song is deep on several levelssmiley: tongue

She looks real good though, she lost a good amount of weight over the past few weeks again.

I don't wan't come across as one of those know it alls who think they know every detail of Mariah's life (because obviously none of us on here really do) but as a singer myself I can totally understand this situation. The voice itself is very unpredictable. The chords are the first to be hit by anything (cold, flus etc.) because they are positioned close to the mouth, making it very easy to pick something up and foil your voice. Also one thing that affects the voice the most is sleep. I know that when I have had hardly any sleep my voice sucks and I don't even sound like myself, so just think of Mariah when she's touring or promoting. She's said herself that she only gets about 3 hours sleep when she's working so yeah thats probably a big contributing factor to her voice being a little hoarse at times. She's only human after all.
I was slightly disappointed with the triumphant performance, but I wasn't really surprised. Its just not one of those songs that sounds good live.

I guess the main thing is that her voice has always been unpredictable, she sounded pretty flat on the Music Box tour for the most part, which was in her vocal prime years!!

There's no way of getting around it so I might as well just get it out there - was a bit a mess. I'm not shocked as this song was never going to translate well live so it was just watching it all unfold into a horrid reality.

The 'Fashionably Late' thing was actually really, really cute I felt and I will give credit to. The video idea running with it was a bit cheap looking though - I agree with others saying this kind of lowbrow quality would never have made it through a few years back. I found it insanely funny wondering if the crowd was wondering "WTF is she?" for most of the song and if they were just going to watch a video of her instead. The Meek and Ross parts seemed to drag on forever as I kept thinking JUST GET OUT ON STAGE FOR YOUR SONG MARIAH!! lol The audio mixing was definitely shot. I actually wondered if Mariahs mic was off for a while on her arrival and the backing singers were wailing so powerfully that I was wondering what the hell was going on. Mariah was hoarse but I've heard worse and she looked nice in the gold, workin' those flowey things on her wrists.

Like the song itself, this is one performance that I'll be forgetting.

Yeah I mean I respect her for TRYING to do something "interesting" with her performance, it's just that everytime she tries to do something new it always is executed SO FREAKING POORLY!!!
