I didn't see No Doubt but if they were a mess maybe there is something wrong with the sound.

6 years ago we wouldn't have had the ISIL video - that IMO was ...... Why wasn't you out there clapping?! You coulda made that difference!

Just watched Triumphant on TV... I haven't read anything from the thread here yet, so just going on what I saw on TV, not sure of the other videos are available yet... I just wanted to go in fresh haha.

It was alright I thought. Not bad, not amazing. On the positive side of things, I loved the 'fashionably late' video (haha) and she also looked really good. She sounded decent on the parts she was singing, although you could tell she was crazy raspy when she was speaking there at the end. Actually her singing voice sounded way better than I would expect given how raspy her speaking voice was. She obviously lipped a few parts, but the audio level for some of those parts was way too low in the mix, which really calls attention to it. I don't know why they can't get little details like that right for big time performances like this when a LOT of people are watching.

I doubt it'll do much for the song, but at least it got it out there for some more ears to hear and reminded folks that she's still around.  The only thing that seemed weird was the crowd reaction at the end -- it was *very* quiet on my TV.  I didn't watch Gwen's performance, so I'm not sure if that was a crowd thing or an audio mix thing.

Just finished watching it and I was actually a little impressed. smiley: laugh

She looked great and sounded fine. Didn't blow me away but it was faaaaaar from bad. Also, I actually think Triumphant translates better live than Obsessed and Shake It Off.

I've also just seen the performance on YT.
I don't like the song but I though the performance was quite good actually!
Yes she did lip but I liked the belting bits.

I thought she sounded fine mostly. She was rehearsing in the rain last night so maybe that caused issues.

Drama queens make this forum hilarious! Keep up the bitchiness. Complaining about 24 seconds of lipping is very drama queenesque because lipping is something to be expected now. Lippings is pretty much guaranteed with Mariah to some extent, you just got to get to the point in your fan life to accept its here to stay. I use to whine about Mariah lipping so I guess I'm a kettle. Mariah use to be a perfectionist maybe, but how can she continue with that work ethic when her voice is far from perfect now? You want Mariah to cancel a live performance coz she's having an off day or what? What do you propose she do?

Someone from ukmix was at the event:

"Touch My Body" was the highlight. It was all sung live, I think.

The way they had the crowd set up was a **** mess. The group I was in was separated from the ticket-holding crowd. There was enough room there for more people, but it wasn't filled for some reason. Also, half of the people in my section couldn't even see Mariah because of some horrible trees!!! Needless to say, the crowd was D-E-A-D.

She only sang four songs. The "We Belong Together" note, OMG, you have to hear it live. Lipped or not, it sounds amazing. I couldn't see [b]anything[/i] during "Triumphant".

It was a mini-concert, so I'm not expecting too much. The event organizers should hav handled the audience better.

Highlight of the night was when a British girl next to me remarked that the concert wouldn't start out on time because "it's Mariah, she's always late". icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

For me the issue isn't her singing. She didn't sound that bad vocally. The issue is the horrible audio from the performance. The background singers on the chorus were hiddeous. The sound levels did not sound correct. Oh well...

What was the purpose of this though? There was no need to even perform this song since its a stand alone single.

Ugh... The way we describe Mariah performances now is so pathetic. It wasn't that bad? She sounded okay on the live parts? I was actually a little impressed? Wow

it's like there's no sound check and they're guessing as they go along on live TV. Very unprofessional. The pre recorded vocal levels should have been raised and digitally saved so they wouldn't be so low in the mix like they were tonight. Same with the backing vocals, they were not balanced properly. Well, at least to my ears.

It wasn't that bad. But it wasn't memorable either. Which brings up an interesting question. Is Mariah her worst enemy with these big live tv broadcasts? Why is she not more prepared for such crucial performances? Come on woman, if you don't have the voice to pull off high belting, stop recording songs that require you to look weak live.

I love her, but she's losing me.

This.
