I love this interlude, but to me, it's bordering porno music and she's singing about Jesus' birth lol.

i think the interlude is one of the best moments on the cd. it is amazing and shows mariah's artistry. i would have loved the interlude to have been a longer track in place of her rendition of The First Noel. I am glad that it was limited to one song tho cause a whole disk of that style would have been overkill.

this interlude is actually stupid. when i got to that part, i was like "what the?", my friends were laughing when we were listening. that R&B tinged interlude is not needed :-\

I do know what you mean about the screechy vocals  It really bothers me in some songs (Mine Again, I Wish You Knew) and not so much in others (STN, WCC).  I think the reason it doesn't get to me in WCC is because they bury the vocals a little bit in the mix and the music itself is really strong.

Agreed. On WCC the music and vocals 'mix' much better, whereas on Mine Again it's like they put the vocals front and center, so loud (imo because Mariah was desperate to prove she 'could still sing').
'Mine Again' was much more 'tourettes' as well - the parts she was placing emphasis on, or belting, didn't actually make sense.  There was too much switching from "whispering" to belting.

I remember when you used to be MINE, way back then... I was too naive to LOVE you right... but NOW ...

It's irrelevant to dwell on the PAST. I'm accountable for what went bad, and I mean that. But IIIIII if I only had... etc smiley: laugh

This sensual sound, along with the neo-soul sounds of Circles and When Christmas Comes, is totally where I'd like for her to go on the next album..

smiley: rollsmiley: rollsmiley: roll  Tourettes is a good analogy.  The song kind of randomly EXPLODES on you.  Can you imagine listening to it on headphones with the sound turned up pretty loud as you are falling asleep?

I'll say, it has an AMAZING bridge though.  I remember hearing that in the leaked sound-clips and thinking, oh this is going to be the best Mariah Carey song I've ever heard.  Easily the most letdown I've ever been for one of her songs.

I actually don't mind it in the song and even like it smiley: embarassed For whatever reason, it makes emotional sense to me.

i'd love an album with this sound. and the magic james poyser did on WCC... Mariah never misses her mark with 70's soul!! I'd love a song like Adele's ONE AND ONLY or RUMOUR HAS IT

Agreed. Mama was sangin the whole way through. She does the same technique in ITS A WRAP, she just doesn't use falsetto as much.
