We all know that Mariah is pretty versatile in her music, she's done ballads, uptempos, gospel influenced tracks, introspective personal songs, dance club mixes, spanish ballads, inspirational ballads, hip hop tracks, opera duets, and even dabbled in country music.  But I'm not sure if any of her "Greatest Hits" compilations really showcase her versatility as an artist.  So what tracks would you put on an album to demonstrate Mariah's different genres. I need to think about my playlist before I make one up.

This is what I came up with, I think it's good---however it's difficult to find a track listing that showcases her versatility & has a cohesive flow.  Which is perhaps why none of the compilation albums have captured it either.

01.  Underneath the Stars (Drifting Remix)

02.  All My Life

03.  Hero (duet with Pavarotti)

04.  Say Somethin’ (David Morales Remix)

05.  Without You

06.  I Am Free

07.  Just Be Good To Me (live 1996)

08.  Right To Dream

09.  100%

10.  One Child

11.  Looking In

12.  El Amor Que Sone

13.  Slipping Away

14.  Heartbreaker/If You Should Ever Be Lonely

15.  Help Me Make It (Through The Night)

16.  HATE U

17.  Vanishing

18.  Make It Happen (MSG 96)

19.  Honey (So So Def Remix)

20.  Every time I Close My Eyes

Buffy ended in 2003, so that was 8 years ago.  CBS has been screening Ringer and it's rumored that reception has been positive so it'll likely get picked up for fall.  The Wonderful Maladays didn't get picked up by HBO, but I wish the pilot would leak already.  Veronika Decides To Die was released in Europe, but so far no USA release date.  Although you could probably find it online.

How could I forget about "Subtle Invitation"?? It's so rare for her to do jazzy music, it completely slipped my mind.

I couldn't agree more Mariah really needs to higlite how much she has branched out as an artist. So if she is going to release a greatest hits this year I think this would be the best theme for it.

Really? I thought it was good.  But maybe that's b/c I could relate to it?  Anywhoo, her best movie has been The Air I Breathe!  It was rumored in 2007 that she had Oscar buzz b/c of Air & I can see why.  Her performance was stellar.  Really the entire cast is just amazing: Andy Garcia, Brendan Fraser, Kevin Bacon, Julie Delphy, Emile Hirsch, Forest Whitaker, SMG......such a talented group of people.  You should definitely check it out.

Oh right! Especially the version with Dave Navarro on guitar lead.  I forgot about that one too, she rarely does rock songs.  The only other one that comes to mind is "You Need Me" from the debut.
