It takes two to have a feud and this clearly wasn't one. It's was all in Mariah's head and one-sided. She saw slights that wasn't there. She was paranoid about the whole situation, hiring a PI to investigate Tommy and all. If it wasn't Jennifer it would have been another female artist. Tommy saw an opportunity and cashed in on it. It was a win-win for him.
Britney Spears cannot sing and never could. I put JLo's singing ability on the same level as Taylor Swift. I think Randy is insulting Lady Gaga here.
Oh please. You're always so bitchy and quick to dismiss Mariah. Mariah wasn't just paranoid, Tommy was deliberately trying to sabotage her career. And it was obvious even before the whole song stealing drama, J.Low's whole look and sound was a copy of Mariah post-Butterfly. J.Low may not have been aware of the song stealing, but that still makes her lame as it shows she has absolutely no involvement in her own career, she's just a puppet horny for success.
It might have seemed like a win-win for Tommy at the time, but in the long run clearly it was not. The suits over at Sony Music Japan were not happy with him for driving away their #1 best-selling artist. J.Low's biggest album didn't even sell as well as Rainbow. And a couple of years later Tommy was history.
Tommy went behind Mariah's back, hired the same hairdresser she used and specifically told him to style JLo's hair like Mariah's. He was calling up the NY Post and planting stories (the Janet ones). He somehow got a hold of Glitter months before it was to be released for nefarious reasons. Mariah's long-time collaborator Cory Rooney jumped ship and produced On The 6, and said things like JLo is the best singer he's ever worked with. That story about Barbara Walters told her. And who knows what else. Yes, I believe all that can make someone paranoid. I never said she had no reason to against Tommy. I don't see it being a negative. It was probably a reason why she hired that PI. He said he found proof.
Yes, I still say it was a win-win for Tommy. He got the credit for signing Jlo, but he was already getting heat for his overspending along with Sony falling to #2 worldwide after like a decade. He got a nice severance package from Sony and then turned around and signed some multi-million $ deal with Universal. Him and Doug Morris are best buds. I would not be surprised to see Tommy back at Sony with him.
