So you just type "@mariah...."? when you reply to the tweet then click send?

Last month, I woke up at like 3am due to a series of probably 10 tweets from her and got so hella annoyed I replied: "Mariah, go back to sleep!"

I didn't put the @mariah, so she didn't get that? smiley: laugh

Is it typical that an artist listen to their own music a lot? I don't know. I just find that 'different' to say the least. It's like an actor always watching their own performances. I've heard artists and actors talk about this before and some say they don't listen or watch their performances that much. Mariah seems to do it a lot. Just a thought.

If I had a voice like hers, I probably would too. smiley: laugh

But to answer your question, no it's not normal.  I've never heard of an artist that listens to their own music as much as her.

And most artists also don't listen to their past work to find inspiration. They rather want to move forward and do something fresh. Mariah on the other hand is the complete opposite.

Its like cooking and eating what u cook...
I think every artist listens to their music and thats why many are so 'aware' of their sound....they just dont admit that they listen to it
I couldnt imagine creating something and not enjoying it and learning from it and growing with it
I think its absolutely natural and honest of her to enjoy her own creations..its actually wonderful

I agree completely. And like the above poster said If I had a voice like Mariah's, I'd listen to it too. There's nothing wrong with an artist being a fan of their own work.

When you write a song you keep working on it until you come up with parts that you think sound cool and so naturally you want to listen to it. If you're a songwriter and write a song and don't ever want to listen to it you're probably not a very good songwriter.

And you know that Mariah listens to her old work for inspiration how? You had a converation with her about it? And how do you know what other artists do and don't do?

On the one hand, she wasn't free at her debute, I reckon that she still appreciate some of her debute songs, but not all like "I don't wanna cry" if I'm not wrong. But we know the story now, she was really free since Butterfly, and a little bit on Daydream (Fantasy, Underneath the Stars (+ remix), ...). To me for example, "Rainbow" isn't an album that Mariah loves, it is so commercial, and impersonal, it is just an album with some hits to hit the charts but she still loves songs like "Crybaby", anyway "Rainbow" wasn't planned.

I think she really loves her working since Butterfly (and Glitter too, secretly lol), excepted Rainbow. This is just my point of view
