Yeah I'm struggling to figure out how 3/5 will work to be honest and I'm hoping that all 5 will be involved, at least for the recorded music. Mel B, Emma, and Geri could have been writing songs in the studio with the producer and the other two, or Mel C, can come in and lay down their vocals later.

Mel C trashed 'Headlines' after they were done promoting it. She only did the last tour for money probably. She's kind of a b.itch.

"Controlla" has a Rhythmic adds date, I think on Urban as well.

The latest Ent Weekly has an interview with some songwriters that is really interested as it relates to streaming:

Savan Kotecha - "That's the scary thing about now. I would get album cuts and that would give me the finances to focus on my craft. Now, with streaming, it's become a hit game. You're paid so little from royalties. Even a big hit doesn't make you money. I had a song that was No. 1 for weeks on the U.S. charts. It was Maroon 5's "One More Night." But I got the numbers for what we made from streaming. It was $35,000.

In an age of streaming, is it possible to make a living as a writer?
Kotecha - Radio money is good.
J.R. Rotem - That's where the money is. Everything else is gone.

Pitchfork asked this week if free streaming is coming to an end:

Separate from streaming, but from the same interview and related to the songwriting credit issues we've discussed on here before:

Do you find it frustrating when an artist wants to get heavily involved in the writing process?

Kotecha - There are some artists who can definitely write - Taylor Swift, the Weeknd, and Ed Sheeran - but you're sometimes writing down [to other artists' abilities] and it's sad, because you already have to give away publishing. We have a practice where we'll refuse to do that sometimes. I know one major artist we lost because we refused to give away publishing.

Rotem - A lot of these A&R guys manage their own writers and producers. And they'll say, "Let's tweak this lyric," and it's their underhanded way to get their own piece of a song.

Julia Michaels - I know! And then the pizza delivery guy is like, "I was there! I wrote that line! I get 2 percent!"

I heard Uptown Funk on the radio yesterday! If I never heard that song again I would be A-OK with that.

Beyoncé-ish - 1997 Britney Spears - 1999 Katy Perry - 2008 Lady Gaga - 2009 Rihanna - 2005 No new girls in the 2010's? I'm worried. Maybe Arianna Grande (2011?) but this one is traveling to Carly Rae Jepsen's land.
