To distance this project from 'Memoirs' (a re-release of a flop album doesn't make a lot of sense), and also because there are some new songs on the album by Timbaland/JD.

Because two flops in a row make more sense ? image

It sounded like a better idea to have it re-released, saying something PR-y like "Since from the beginning this album was for my fans and not about commercial success, I want to give them another gift to thank them for their support", it would have sold 50k more, and nobody would have cared.
You're saying it's going to flop, but we have no idea. IMHO, the Angels Cry remix is titanic.

Yeah, I think the AC remix could be a hit. I'm not going to run around screaming "#1 future smash hit!" but I think it HAS to do better than IWTKWLI and HATE U, right? I really hope (and think) so.

I don't understand the logic of releasing a NEW album, which consists of the old tracks of the previous one + featurings. Why can't they just re-release the album? Or if she's not willing to resing them, they could at least truly remixe them, speed it up, add a new tempo, whatever.
THANK YOU!! I'll support whatever I like, I'm not a hater just because I think this "project" is disapointing so far.

The One was never a single and she did it -- again -- for the fans -- to be included on The Remixes. and it was also - a ballad. Say Something was a flop, and she did the remix to try to save it - and also stick it to L.A Reid and have J.D produce a better beat than the original Say Somethin. but obviously no one is saying she's never going to put out an urban remix resung with a new track ever again -- she just doesn't need to do it to every single she releases cuz they're already urban enough. If she does it now, its cuz SHE WANTS TO - like H.A.T.E.U... fans are so ungrateful

Personally the new songs i've heard of are: 100%, Skydiving, Imperfect, They Don't Know Me <-- those are definately tracks she's recorded or written. And i've heard rumours of songs called: Stimulate, Call Me Now, That's a Smash, Cry.

yes, these news are 3 months old. if she really wanted to do this right, she could have gone back and changed them up a lil in these 3 months like some people have already said. mariah probably thinks the album flopped because there were no rappers on it (please no serious replies to this, i know she isnt that thick), and by giving it another name, plus some more rappers names it will make a huge difference. but what is the difference really? the songs (will) sound unorganic because the raps were just added or the beats changed.... if she wanted rappers she should have done it the first time, or just make it a re-release. how can this not flop? what is the difference to the original apart from it sounding unorganic?
i love the original, im HAPPY there are no rappers on it, and if I have to live with a remix album with rappers that has a new name, more videos than the original and a new cover, just so I could get a rapper free Memoirs.... fine with me.

It was worth re-posting this just to set everyones expectations. It'll be less drama when the whole album leaks and we end up with whats likely to be mostly a load of copy and paste raps over the originals. At least no one can say they didn't see it coming after this thread.

If all the mixes are like AC and UOMF, I'm wondering what they really expect the Remix album to do though?

The one was plan to be the second single of charmbracelet, and they change to boy [I need you] instead
The one so so def was in charmbracelet tour edition.

Anyway after I listen the 2 remixes , I love them but my point is people gonna support the album like us?

People who haven't heard Memoirs aren't going to think the features sound copy and paste because they haven't heard the originals.

"if she really wanted to do this right, she could have gone back and changed them up a lil in these 3 months like some people have already said."

Mariah makes way more music than most popular artists could ever dream of. She worked her ass off for Memoirs, and once that was done, she had other things to do. Besides, she obviously loves the original tracks on Memoirs, so she probably didn't want to change it that much. She doesn't want to give people a completely different album. She wants more people to get Memoirs, and if this is what she has to do to get more people to hear her music, then so be it.

The double release à la Lady GaGa would still be a good idea.

People who want this can purchase the one album version. People who want originals+remixes can buy both in a Deluxe Edition package.

No one really bought the original, so this will be like a 'new' album to most people. Fans have even reported that people around them thought Obsessed was just a response track to Eminem. Hypothetically speaking a song from Angels Advocate could become a hit and then that album could outsell Memoirs.

Honestly, I could see it happening, at least in America. With Memoirs only at 400k, it wouldn't take much for the Remix version to sail past it if one of the two songs could be an average sized hit.

she has gone over to being ok with making more money with a product that she didn't put any effort in. there won't be more people who'll listen to memoirs now, only the fans will care for this.... and what do we get? recycled music. why does she do it? for the money.

You're contradicting yourself. No one will really buy this, yet she's doing it for the money? The TEOM re-release was about money. I doubt even Mariah expects Angels Advocate to bring in any real money.

I'm assumung someone on her side is expecting a profit though - the label surely, since their funding it? Still cant figure out why unless they really feel they can turn this into a success the second time around or she threated/hinted she would change labels unless they commited to the remix project?

Mariah's funding it. Artists always fund their own projects. If any of her projects doesn't turn in a profit, she's the one stuck with the bill for recording costs, videos, etc. But I believe she's passionate about this project and she can take a loss, so she doesn't care.

I mean the promotion. The label pays for that. Assuming their not going to be even tighter than before (Jesus), then they'll splashing some cash on this project that - given its a Remix album - may not sell massively. I'm curious as to why their supporting it but I guess we'll never know.
