This article is from almost three months ago, but since lambs want to be dramatic and b itch and moan I'm posting it as a reminder. You may lock the thread if you want, but at least maybe someone will read this article before they make an annoying comment.

It's hard to please everyone, but Mariah Carey is setting out to do just that with a retooled version of her latest album, and she's brought along some famous friends. After we broke the news of the songbird's plans to remix Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, Tricky Stewart filled us in on a few more details.

The "Obsessed" producer wouldn't quite categorize the work in progress as a remix album. "They've said that it's a remix album, but really what it is is a features album. [The songs] won't necessarily be remixed," Tricky once again told Rap-Up.com. "It's just an album of features, really cool features on the exact same album."

According to Tricky, 90 percent of the record will contain a featured guest, while there's a small possibility of one or two all-new tracks. The as-yet-untitled project will go by the Memoirs title. "It will be the same name, but it will probably have something to it. I'm not sure what they're going to call it, but it's the same album."

The goal is to appeal to all of Carey's fans. "We wanted to do an album that was really personal, and if you love Mariah Carey, you can put it on and listen to it all day," began Tricky, "but at the same time, if you like the hot Mariah when she's doing the features, we want to give people that option too, so that they can put on whichever one they choose."

So far the lineup looks promising with T-Pain Auto-Tuning on "Candy Bling," the Southern hip-hop trio of Big Boi, Gucci Mane, and OJ Da Juiceman rapping on "H.A.T.E.U.," and Trey Songz crooning on "Inseparable." Tricky also revealed to Rap-Up.com that R. Kelly appears on the opening cut "Betcha Gon' Know."

No release date has been set for the project.

Thanks for re-posting this article. I'm still looking forward to this project as I feel the features on Obsessed, HATE U, Candy Bling, and AC are all different enough from the original that I don't feel like I've bought the same thing twice. And if people don't like it, then just ignore the whole project I suppose.

technically an added verse from a featured guest is still considered a remix. Fans need to accept that the type of remix that Mariah's popular for were created out of creative stifling from Columbia and Tommy Mottolla. Once she started making the music SHE wanted to make, the need for a totally new track and new vocals became less necessary.

There is going to be a Desert Storm remix of something, though, so that most likely will have new vocals.

I agree just support Mariah because she's released material almost non-stop for 20 years now and hasn't really had much of a break if any. Between releases she tours and records. Look at a lot of artists who go on hiatus or have a 2/3/4 year break between albums. Mariah gives a lot to her fans, she knows we're here.

Obviously- but people are acting suprised and shocked that the remixes leaking aren't re-worked, a fact we've known for a long time now. HATEU will probably be the only resung one on the album.

Mariah tweeted in december that there are "SEVERAL unheard songs"

Mariah's said that there will be more than one Timbaland track and at least one JD track. So, Skydiving and 100% are pretty much a given. Excited to hear the second Timb track as well!

Wasn't there a song called STIMULATE?

That sounds intriguingly dirty! image

Those saying that Mariah only did resung-remixes because her songs were poppy to begin with, need their little lesson of Mariah-ology. "The One" and "Say Somethin'" were urban tracks and yet they got resung remixes (I'm obliviously not refering to WBT & DFAU because I know I would have "But they were ballads" comments).

I don't understand the logic of releasing a NEW album, which consists of the old tracks of the previous one + featurings. Why can't they just re-release the album? Or if she's not willing to resing them, they could at least truly remixe them, speed it up, add a new tempo, whatever.

To distance this project from 'Memoirs' (a re-release of a flop album doesn't make a lot of sense), and also because there are some new songs on the album by Timbaland/JD.

Because two flops in a row make more sense ? image

It sounded like a better idea to have it re-released, saying something PR-y like "Since from the beginning this album was for my fans and not about commercial success, I want to give them another gift to thank them for their support", it would have sold 50k more, and nobody would have cared.

Yeah...interesting, huh? I wonder what it's for. Mariah did say that she did a remix for "It's A Wrap" the same time Clue was in Vegas with her...and the Clue track will definitely have Fabolous on it...but I can't really see Fabolous on anything other than Ribbon or MTJF.

You're saying it's going to flop, but we have no idea. IMHO, the Angels Cry remix is titanic. I've been skeptical about every single song she's released since TMB (even though I loved IBLULT and H8U), but I have a ton of faith in this AC remix.
