If you're disappointed it's your own fault for not listening to the facts. The-Dream has clearly stated that this would be more a "features" album than a true remix album, and all the remixes that have leaked so far have been this way. So, it doesn't make sense to suddenly be disappointed.

LOL yeah it's my fault so the angels advocate is the "features" album not the remix.

October 20:

The "Obsessed" producer wouldn't quite categorize the work in progress as a remix album. "They've said that it's a remix album, but really what it is is a features album. [The songs] won't necessarily be remixed," Tricky once again told Rap-Up.com. "It's just an album of features, really cool features on the exact same album." http://www.rap-up.com/2009/10/20/mariah-carey-preps-memoirs-features-album-r-kelly-on-board/

Pay attention and you don't have to be disappointed and b itch to us about it.

I'm in love with this new mix. I think Ne-Yo really adds to the song. I definitely prefer it to the original. I think they shouldn't have ever called this project a "remix" album as it's deceptive. That should've called it a "features" album or a "duets" album. I guess that's not as exciting, though...

BTW, I played this song for my partner today. He's not a Mariah fan, but he likes her music alright. He said he thought the song was much better with a guy's voice on it. He didn't really like the UOMF remix, though, and that's his favorite song on Memoirs.

You're definitely right. It is still a remix. What I mean, though, is that for Mariah Carey to be releasing a remix album, it gives the impression that there will be lots of completely reworked songs when in fact there may only be one.

well i said in another thread that fans need to let go of the Mariah definition of a "remix".

I'm willing to bet tho that Standing O, MTJF, and Ribbon will be resung and or have entirely new tracks.

^LMAO so true... they'd be like "WHY ISN'T SHE SINGING IN FULL VOICE" or "HER BELTING IS REALLY STRAINED"

or

"OMG THE ORIGINAL BEAT WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS CASIO KEYBOARD CRAP"

Really? I'd love that, but I don't think MTJF or Ribbon will be all that different....Snoop is perfect for the MTJF beat, Mary for Standing O, and Fabolous for Ribbon. Maybe they'll give "Ribbon" a new beat like "Candy Bling," though. I definitely don't think Betcha Gon Know will be changed, nor will The Impossible.

Like I said, in all honesty, we really shouldn't get our hopes up for any re-sung remixes like H.A.T.E.U. Maybe a few different instrumentals, but I think she's tagging the unheard songs/previously unreleased songs on to satisfy those who want something completely new. If anything, another completely reworked remix would be a nice surprise, but I'm perfectly happy with a guest features album, as long as there are more new tracks than just 100% and Skydiving.

I like the Angels Cry remix, but IMO I don't really see this selling a new album. Which is the only purpose of a single and most importantly the lead single. She should have come harder.

Frankly I've been shockingly underwhelmed by the Angels Cry "Remix" and the Up Out My Face "Remix".... the reason I put """ is they are hardly remixes. They are the same musical backing just with guest vocalists.... I miss the days of a proper r'n'b remix... the Thank God I Found You / Make It Last was amazing and completely different song...

These two singles are near enough the exact same just with a rent-a-rapper or Ne-Yo singing... huge disappointment. Hope the rest of the album is in the same vain of HATE U remix, completely changing the melody, backing, tempo etc.

I like it for an unresung remix. NeYo seems to be a good fit for the song, and complements her voice well. I think it will add some radio accessability to the song (but who knows these days). But I am disappointed too. Mariah used to have really AMAZING remixes to her songs that were so inventive and unexpected. This remix (nor the Up Out of My Face one) is nowhere near the quality of some her former work.

so, I just listened to the remix for the first time on MDJ. And i'm pleasantly suprised. I didn't think I would like it since I pretty much hate the original. And I'm not a big fan of Ne Yo. That's why I didn't go after this remix and listen to it when it leaked. But this one is so much better than the boring original one. Strange really, how Ne Yo's added vocals makes me like the song. So yay!

I'd brace yourself now then, since I think your destined to be dissapointed with the full album.

some people will never learn. Educate urselves on the history of Hip Hop remixes and u won't be so disapointed by the remixes.

Now, the reviews on MDJ act like it's the best ballad she's done since oh I dunno, Hero or something. Lol. And Ne Yo best male singer of our time? Sorry if it's from anyone on FOMM (which I doubt), but are you freaking KIDDING ME?! Now, This doesn't mean I donn't like it, I do but the reviews are just too much. lol.

They're probably by 'normal' fans, who go more by how something sounds, as opposed to nitpicking ad nauseum as people here do.

I think my biggest issue with the r&b remix album is this.... The reason projects like this are done is to attempt to extend an album era or save a flopped project. Now any casual buyer that bought Memoirs is gonna be like WTF when they buy the r&b remix album. You're supposed to be getting something new, not something exactly the same as the normal release with rented rappers or guest vocalists.

I personally love ALL of Memoirs. I think it's a sumptuous album but I really think the whole album/singles/promotion etc were all mismanaged. My friends have taken great delight in highlighting the flopped performance of the single and album in the UK. My retaliation was that the label mismanaged and that Rihanna equally struggled... that aside I've been bigging up the the dance/r&b versions of Memoirs (I believe that the dance alb will be fantastic) I'm just getting tired in non-delivering the quality I expect and demand (as a lamb!).
