So I made a YouTube video for Mariah's 2009 mix of AIWFCIY, and credited Joey Arbagey as the remixer (as stated on MC.com), and a day later he messaged me personally on YouTube with: "This mix is remixed by Low Sunday - Ron Haney, Bart Schoudel and Joey Arbage." So then I replied and asked him about the vocals and what was new and what was from the 90s. "vocals are a mix of 94 vocals and new vocals from last month. glad you like it"

Here is my video:

Little snippets throughout are new, and most of the ending is new

And YES, I believe this will be eligible to chart on the Hot 100, because it's a new remix with new vocals and is currently being promoted.

I've been trying to locate the "all i really want is you" "I don't need nobody else - I don't need nobody else" in the original version and I can't find them. At the very VERY end of the original she adlibs "All I want, All I really want is you" But the "You" part isn't high so this leads me to believe it's new vocals.

Because the original was recorded for Sony, and elements from the 1994 version were used in the 2009 version. It's owned by Sony's "legacy" division, and even though Mariah bought her entire catalog, they still have most of the rights to all of those tracks. Unless they credit the original as a sample, it won't be considered new.

In order to be considered for the BB Hot 100, the song needs to have new elements to it, and be currently promoted. This song is credited as "2009 dance mix" and is currently being promoted, considering its being sent to radio and has a download date set. It doesn't matter who owns the rights.

^It's just a remix, though. The "H.A.T.E.U." Remix won't chart separately because it has the same lyrics. This mix has the same lyrics, so it shouldn't count separately.

I think the new vocals are the repeated bits that are really low ("all i want" & "make my wish come true") and the adlibs at the end. The adlibs sound great...very true the original vocals.

Right. I think it has to have a different name, too. When Cyndi Lauper remade "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" in 1994, they had to call it "(Hey Now) Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" for it to chart. Maybe the "2009 Dance Remix" counts? I guess since Motolla is no longer part Sony, they don't have anything against Mariah anymore...but I get the feeling that they just want to bank off of the remix sales and are not worried about the Hot 100. This song deserves to go to number one, though - probably more so than any of her other singles that never hit the top - so I'm all for any tricks she/they can pull to make that happen.
