Yeah and she's only getting this "chance" because Michael died. She's passed through EMI and Island. Her only label options are Sony/BMG or another branch of Universal.

Music is a business after all and I really hope she brings it because she is very much capable of doing so.

Yeah basically, Discipline already was her last chance.
Now that Michael has died (with all the respect of the world of course) Janet can actually "benefit" from it, so this is her very VERY last chance.

Yay, I wish Janet all the best, I really hope she can make a beautiful comeback too. (I thought Discipline would do, but we all know what happened).

Honestly, I still think "Feedback" is the strongest lead single since "All for you", it's just a pity that it didn't do as well as we all expected.

I'm sure she'll rock the stage and will create an amazin and gorgoeus album!!!!

Janet's 43 with three consecutive flop albums. This is her last chance.
'Discipline' was her last chance. She had three albums sell less than their predecessor and the third one was on the biggest record label there is (i.e. Universal).

Yeah, unless she somehow sneaks on Sony/BMG, this doesn't really count as a chance. I hope she goes back to working with Jimmy and Terry along with other new producers- at least we know JD won't be around this time. Oh, and it's funny how despite being on 'the biggest record label there is', everything about 'Discipline' was so royally fu&ked up. It was even more poorly handled than, well, Whitney's new album image

^ Yeah. Sure, the Discipline project could've been handled differently (random December release of the lead single, tacky video, etc), but I doubt it would've made a big difference in the end as the material just wasn't there.

^ and there was no hype for/talk about Janet. They tried to create some hype/talk by putting her on a bunch of magazines about her weight loss (which really isn't anything new since we've seen Janet yo-yo her whole career) and it did nothing.

That was '20 YO'. I actually think Virgin did a much better job at least trying to spin something out of that era than Universal did with 'Discipline'. Universal allowed Janet to rush out a generic album and then released one single in December and the era ended with some half-assed GH tour.

^ And at least Call On Me was an Urban hit. It was clear that Universal wasn't that interested in the Janet project from the start, I mean L.A. said he didn't even want to sign her. She must've felt very sidelined by all the attention Mariah was getting.

Yes, like how he would do combined listening parties for Janet and Mariah, knowing that Mariah would largely overshadow Janet in the press. I'm not saying it's solely their fault- Janet didn't seem very interested in the project either, and the music wasn't up to her pre-2000's standards, but it's like they didn't even try. Whereas with '20 YO', Virgin tried- it was just a case of very sh*tty music.

Oh wow, that picture is frightening. I seem to recall he didn't get as much as he wanted, right? 'Son of a Gun' probably shut his @ss up- it certainly scared away most record buyers image
