EMC2 was like a rebound affair. We had a long serious relationship with TEOM. We really relived our youth there. But then it sizzled when Say Somethin was released and then we parted ways. Now we are ready for a new serious relationship and we have our sights on Memoirs. Without EMC2 we would never have got Memoirs at all. So the rebound was, afterall, necessary.

At the moment we are at the stage before the first date. Memoirs has asked us out and we are freaking out about what to wear and whether we should get a haircut. Regardless, Memoirs is the man we want to marry.

EMC2, we loved you while it lasted. You were hot stuff. But we couldn't go the distance with you. We'll always be friends though.image

And also a completely different drama...imageimage

I don't think everything sucked vocally this era. She had some pretty good performances such as her Loving You Long Time performances at the MTV Asia Awards, Teen Choice Awards, and Jimmy Kimmel, Side Effects at Jimmy Kimmell, I Stay In Love AMA performance, as well as Migrate on SNL and Bye-Bye (At Oprah) and (GMA), another favorite was the Christmas Baby Please Come Home performance. Sure she had some nailbiting moments...but quite a few solid performances as well vocally.

watching the SNL video makes me miss this era already! I LOVE this album, it's probably 2nd to Butterfly for me (for now - Memoirs? lol). It does feel over too soon...and I'll never get why IBLULT didn't do better, whatever, it's an A+ in my books! Well so is ISIL...personally quite a gem for me

I think the problem I had with it was that there really were too many good releases coming out in 2008 that kind of overshadowed E=MC2, which lead me to not listen to it as much or build hype or really fall in love with it. At least this year other than the Dave Matthews Band album, there hasn't been too much that I'm really anticipating, such as Brooke Hogan and Ashley Tisdale's CDs sound boring, Hannah Montana 3 is mostly a re-release of the movie soundtrack with 3 or 4 new tracks, so maybe I'll actually like Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel because 2009 has been lacking in decent music so far. Maybe with this being the end of a decade and coming off the end of tired genre trends, no one feels like putting effort into a strong album right now.

Hmm actually i enjoy most of the songs in E=MC2, well delivered by Mariah. After first single, it started to stumble down, with the 2nd single bye bye, and her very calm and so quite attitude after that...even for the bouncy songs like I'll be loving you long time she seems stuck in the stage...just a lil bit move here and there, that affected her hand movement also......kinda mystery for me. I hope she won't do that again...she seems more relax and happy now and i wish all d best for her.

Anyway E=Mc2, u rocks my life!!!

Agreed that the era was very short, but it gave us a superb collection of music. What I did learn from the era was that I don't need to know every little thing she does, says, goes etc The E=MC2 era really gave me a new perspective on being a Mariah Carey fan. Such great music was overshadowed by her personal life (by no fault of her own imo) and it was hard not to be swept up in the drama. But nothing she does in her personal life affects my life , so I won't let 'drama' distract from her music. Gonna enjoy the sh!t out of the new album!
