You're right. Hmm, let's look at the most played artists on my last.fm. Mariah Carey? Can't sing worth a damn. Whitney Houston? Terrible voice! Faith Hill? She's always autotuned. image

I'm not going to discuss this with you either, because it is painfully obvious to me that you are only defending Aguilera so much because we have been insulting her. If it were us all praising Christina, you'd be labeling her trash. You'll pick a fight over anything. Are you not getting laid or something? Seriously, you're like that girl in high school who turns into a huge c-u-n-t because all the "popular" kids rejected her. What was her name again? Oh, that's right- Christina Aguilera.

LMAO that was at least a good laugh. Thanks for that tho. I'm glad you're happy that you're "popular" on an anonymous message board. If I don't like something, I don't go into threads. You don't see me defending Rihanna or Whitney Houston, or Kelly Clarkson, Pink do youI? If i'm not into an artist, I don't give a crap what people say about her, good bad or indifferent. I like Christina, so I'm here, and its irritating reading all the negative posts about her, so i guess my only recourse is to irritate you by defending her.

I'll defend anyone i'm passionate about. Everytime negative thoughts about Christina linger in your head, a little voice will come to you and remind you of ME. HAHAH.

carlos, really shut up. some of us, likie me for instance, are not haters. we just cannot stand her entitledness and !@%*% has no reason to feel entitled. get over it! both of you.

Carlos, you obviously love her and thus feel passionately about her. The others obviously hate her, and thus feel passionately as well. I understand you want to defend her, but it's not going to change their minds or make much difference. Just shake it off, let it roll off your back. Christina isn't any less of an artist to you just because people talk sh*t about her.

My opinion of the woman...I enjoy her music. I have most of her stuff. I think she is talented, and I actually like the fact that she's a bit bi-polar and not very cohesive with her sound...regardless of if it makes for a good album, or if it is ripped off or not. Do I think she's orginal? Not really...but an artist doesn't have to be original or groundbreaking for me to enjoy their music.

That being said, although I think she has a great voice, I think at times it can come off as far less than great because her style of belting can be a bit abrasive and unpleasant to the ears. Again, My opinion..I realize not everyone will share it, and that's okay. I think she sounded great on her debut, and I enjoy her voice when she's scaled back, but in subsequent efforts her belting has been a bit ..OOC. If she toned down the belting just a tad..made it a bit less "shouty" per se, I think she would sound miles more pleasant.

Personality-wise? Eh...I get the *!!%! vibes, and I think Mary J and other celeb's comments about her give that claim some validity...but I don't want to judge because I don't know the woman personally, and I am not a fan who watches every interview/stans her boards etc. I know how a lot of people misinterpret Mariah save for fans who know her a bit better. I wouldn't want to do that to another artist.

i don't intend to change their mind. I intend to remind them of their foolishness when they discredit her as an artist. Pop their hate bubble and remind them that Christina is here forever and they will "stay pressed" as Erica puts it.

I don't like the %$$!! anyway LOL. I just like her music. Her fake chula girl accents and laughing at what she says mid sentence irks me. But I'm always blasting her music - the girl can sing - and thats the most important thing.

I have to agree with CLo on this one.
Christina has been recognized in the serious press (at least in Europe) to lead the way for many artists to come.
I understand some people can't stand her. But that doesn't change what she has achieved already.
And like CLo I don't understand why people come to a topic of an artist they don't like.
I always skip those topics too.

And so I stand here and testify
To small and great alike
So the more you curse me
The more you're blessing me
The Word said it
Love your enemies

Do good to those who curse you
Pray for those who mistreat you

(Wish You Well / Mariah Carey)

has she had a big single since Itunes blew up? is there a chance she will do what Britney's "3" did - go in straight at #1 off itunes hype sales. does she have that draw/attraction?

No. Her last single flopped in sales, none of her (digital) singles have sold very well, and her last few singles have struggled to even make the Top 10 at Pop radio (in contrast to Britney who does exceptionally well at Pop radio).
I wouldn't say Britney does 'exceptionally well at Pop radio'. As of late she's done better, but Radar flopped in between the three Circus singles and 3. Historically, Britney hasn't done that well at Pop radio, out of the 26 singles she's released literally only half of them even made the Top 15 (she only has 11 Top 10 hits - one less than P!nk and only one more than Christina with 7-10 more singles released).

That's semantics, really, Let's put it this way, do you really think a new Christina single is as anticipated by Pop radio as the new Britney single is? Judging by recent facts, obviously not. Christina's last few singles have been more or less flops at Pop radio, whereas Britney's have been utterfly succesful (minus Radar, which was a song from 2 years prior AND her only flop from the last two projects).

People aren't going to give Christina ANY leeway. The best thing for her to do is to just put out a great album with good melodies and great videos like she always does. She has an ardent fan base which will get the album Gold and all she really needs is a solid Top 10 hit, and some love from the Grammy's - and a tour - and she's golden. She doesn't need to take over and be this commerical monster cuz she never was one.

Her debut album sold over 8 million copies in the US. The level was set by then.

her debut could very well be near 10 million. It did over 9 million between Soundscan and BMG, alone. She racked up 3#1 singles, a Top 3 hit. Her debut was very much a commercial success.

'Dirrty' really was the sh*t though. I really hope the singles from this project are closer to the quality of the 'Stripped' singles than the ones from 'B2B'.

Why is the STD here and on the Lady Gaga thread? To contaminate as much as possible?
