Oh, and for the whiners, this happens to be a Clowntina thread on a MARIAH CAREY forum, so if you don't like Mariah fans dissing her, find yourself a Legendtina forum or something.

^ Not all gay men like every female artist. I don't like Christina, Carrie, Whitney or Madonna (the last two not in the past decade, anyway). And I don't know of any of those releasing new albums in the fall, except for maybe Madonna.

I think he was quoting an old post that was referring to the fall of last year lol. Christina's album has been in the works for quite a while, of course.

Oh, and %#$%% please, I saw 'Celebration' in your Top songs of 2009...

^ Oh. lol

Well, I hardly consider liking a song here and there equals liking 'the artist'. I love Celebration as a fun party, throwback type of song, but I wouldn't buy a whole album of songs like it obviously. I'd only buy a new album of hers if it had some great ballads on it, and if she didn't sound like an old wino hag (as on HC).

True...but I mean, the old wino hag is also in your sig. I was just (playfully) saying that you don't exactly serve as a great challenge to the "all gay men like Madonna" stereotype, which I think was the point of your post.

^ No, my point was that all gay men don't go crazy each time a female artist releases an album. Obviously I enjoy some camp, but I've never really been a big fan of some of the gayest ones like Cher, Britney, Kylie Minogue, Barbra Streisand, etc. Oh, and Madonna didn't sound like a wino hag on JML. It's something she has started thinking sounds good on the last couple of albums. She really needs to go back to working with that vocal coach from Evita/ROL.

Agreed. I was just making fun of the Madonna reference. Oh, and I feel like gays all over the world would attack you for putting Britney in with those ladies image But I get what you mean.

Her voice is really just very autotuned to me now. She definitely peaked in vocal strength in the late 90's.

Oh lord. "Stan" is as overused as "hater" these days. Do I always defend Madonna when some 18 year old tries to tell me Britney Spears is on her level? Yes. Do I enjoy all her music and defend it/her to no end? Clearly not.

Tell that to the Britney stans. They're almost as delusional as the 'Legendtina' stans.

JLo has fans?

I'm looking forward to the ballads. I'm not a big fan of Christina's uptempo's since she usually mumbles and grunts her way through them let alone the bad enunciation on them. I've never liked her Linda Perry songs, so hope her contribution is kept to a minimum.

Britney already has had a downfall. Back in 2002 none of her singles climbed higher than #86.
In the second half of 2004 and 2005 there were no hits either.
I'm glad for Britney she's back popular again, as I like a lot of her songs.

Christina may have a lot of haters, but she's not had such a big downfall (yet).
Up till now her hits have all hit at least top 50 (Dirrty), top 40 (The voice within) or top 25 (all others).

But I wish both well. Nothin' but love. image

And so I stand here and testify
To small and great alike
So the more you curse me
The more you're blessing me
The Word said it
Love your enemies

Do good to those who curse you
Pray for those who mistreat you

At least Britney was releasing singles in 2001/2002, unlike Christina, who stupidly decided to not release more albums during the peak of teen pop/album sales.

Also, Brit hasn't consistently declined in sales/relevance with each album release. I highly doubt XXX's future singles will shoot to #1 as easily as Britney's have.

Britney never did well on the Hot 100 until digital sales were included, but she was still selling albums in 2001-2002 ('Britney'), so your comparison doesn't make sense. Even 'In The Zone' did pretty well.

It wasn't until 'Blackout' she had saw a downfall. And the funny thing is, Britney's downfall was HUGE. Even if Christina ever acted that erratically, she wouldn't get half the attention Britney did. Britney has always overshadowed Christina. The true test was when they both kissed Madonna but all over the world it was "THE BRITNEY & MADONNA KISS" lol. Christina hasn't had a downfall like Britney, but she's never had the same huge success and media impact either. No one really bought or even remember Back to Basics, and her GH project barely made a blip on the public's radar. Christina is one flop album away from being irrelevant.

Indeed, I dont see Christina as someone whose been doing all that well for years. The last time she was an important recording artist was Stripped and that was many a year ago now. Its incredibly weak to justify most of her singles as doing well when she is barely crawling into the Top 50/25/40.

Sounds pretty desperate reasoning to me.

She's need a successful album that will re-ignite the interest in her. She's almost gone the way of Jessica Simpson and Mandy Moore, fading into obscurity now the pop princess fad is dead.
