Wait, when did Madge praise 'Touch My Body'? I though she would rather kill herself than like Mariah's silly songs
Was I living under a rock when this happened? Show me, plz!

Youtube links to Bionic/NMT and Beautiful.  They didn't show You  Lost Me, just like the last 10 seconds.  Today kept saying she was coming back for another performance, but it ended up being the same Fighter performance.  Weird.

I think it was on a TV show and maybe a radio interview. I know she was brought up on a radio interview by that fat hater Elvis, who brought her up saying she got all cagey when he mentioned her age or about her getting older and I think she might have just deferred the subject by going "I like her new song."

And then on a TV interview she said something like "I like her new song, it's great to work out to." or something like that.

If 'Bionic' was the lead single, she wouldnt be flopping so bad now.

I agree.  They should have gone with Bionic.  It sounds more distinct and is a much better song than NMT.

Agreed. At least it's different than anything she's done before.

Yeah, 'NMT' just sounded like a second rate 'Keeps Getting Better', which was a second rate song itself.

'Elastic Love' would have been good song to release too, after 'Bionic'. Its funny how single choices can make or break a project.

Right.  I think Elvis was basically trying to goad her into saying something nasty about Mariah cause he still resents her for god knows why.

^I don't know I think releasing 'TR' or 'Breakdown' after something like 'Butterfly' would have just been too much change from Mariah's "formula". Butterfly probably wouldn't have done that well, and then to go for something so left field would just be too much change. Neither song would have performed well in the charts and the album would be labelled a bomb. Coming off 'Daydream' that would have been catatrophic with her career.

It was more important than ever for Mariah to have successful singles to prove that she could do it without Tommy's 'guidance' - I get why they went with the safe choices. I think going with the more RnB cuts on the album would have been too much change for people and might have worked against her.

Then she'd have looked really silly going into 'Rainbow', which was full of "single friendly" material.

A bit like Kelly Clarkson doing 'My December' then backtracking with 'All I Ever Wanted'

I hear you, but I still think it's pretty lame to release your most intriguing album yet and basically release singles that could've been on your last album. Madonna released Frozen as the lead single which was a risky choice but one that ended up paying off big time. It would've been nice to see that kind of risk-taking from Mariah/Sony for a change.
Exactly.  Although like you say, Mariah post-divorce was obviously in a very volatile state commercially, compared to Madonna, who in 1998 was coming off 'Evita'.

'NMT' is more 'Gimme More' than anything else imo.  'I Hate Boys' is a 'Keeps Getting Better' ripoff.  And it sounds like something Ke$ha would sing.

Which means a secret part of me loves it.

I was waiting till I got home from work, but I can imagine. During the MTV Movie Awards I bet my cousin 20 bucks she'd grunt or growl at least a dozen times during her performance...and I won.
