I hope she doesn't work with Chrystal Johnson again. IMO she's responsible for a lot of the @$%%%$$ lyrics on 'E=MC2'.

That it's more Soul oriented like TEOM and that she collaborates with some great Soul artists who really know their craft. I get the feeling that in the next decade we're going to go back to more raw and organic sounds now that the "new millennium" decade is officially over because futuristic-sounding glossy hip-hop and pop has had its run. I mean, we're still going to have Rap, but it's going to be less about keyboards and pro-tools.

I don't care how long it takes, but i'd like for her to do a whole album with as few outside help as possible.

more ac/urban ac
no rappers
one or 2 producers only
more organic sounding

hopefully they scrap the rerelease for e=mc2 and save the tracks for the next album in nov 2009.
more mature image, with promo about her being out 20 years. and please drop the eternally 12 thing and say "i am 40 years old!"

I'd be very intrigued to hear Mariah try her hand at writing and singing an operetta. It could still be an R&B operetta, whatever she'd like. Just not an extraordinarily cheesy one like R. Kelley did. That was an abomination.

It would be awesome to hear Mariah singing an operetta accompanied by a full string orchestra. Mariah's voice lends itself so nicely to strings and it hasn't happened enough.

If she pulled it off well, it would immediately boost her status as a writer, vocalist and artist.

I know, I know...never gonna happen.

My expectations? That it'll be at least half as good as E=MC2.
But I'm trying to be realistic. What are really the chances she can deliver another album like this one.

The same stuff I wish for on every album. Great vocals, great songs, with an emphasis on real instruments. Some acoustic stuff would be great.

Realistically, I don't expect her to stop doing current RnB.. I just hope she approaches it in a more unique and original way, working with some unknown and upcoming producers.

I think she needs to put a new song on the Love Songs album coming out next year. She could promote that a bit.

After that I want a hardcore hiphop club album with hot reduxs of her old hits on there too.

Then I want her to just become an AC ballad singer cos she will be too old for the hiphop stuff once she turns like 45....

since I'm longing to have her break/meet the record, I'll say at least 1-2 #1 hits in the next 5 years. after that I dont mind if she does it just for the fans and herself. I'm a lamb who likes bragging rights.

other than that, I want her to just grow artistically and bring something long awaited for collabos(dr. dre, lauryn hill, janet, timbaland, etc.) and some pre-butterfly-like vocals in a song or two.

I think they wrote great songs.

And I don't really think the lyrics are shitty.

Bye-Bye, I Stay In Love, Thanx 4 Nothin, Love Story (although it's cheesy), Last Kiss, For The Record, I Wish You Well, Side Effects, even Loving You Long Time (a song they collaborated on) and Crusie Control are well written songs. Also That Chick has some really good lyrics. It's creative. I think the shitty lyrics are found in TMB, OOC and Migrate.

And I think she has mature music on her album. Half of the album is really mature. Shocking rightimage

I want her to make some R & B music that has some real soul. Something old school yet fresh at the same time.

I think giving the hip hop producers a rest would be good too; she could work with people she hasn't before like Mark Ronsan, Amir Thompson( from The Roots), Raphael Saadiq and Salaam Remi; also Brian Michael Cox and James Poyser, good R&B producers

Exactly. I really think a lot of those songs are really well written - but the problem is that element gets drowned out in the over-produced JD -style beats. I mean really, I didn't think 'LS' and 'T4N' were that well written until I heard those acoustic performances then I realised it. They are beautiful - 'LS' has a really nice and interesting melody.

I wish Mariah and JD would just write songs together, then get someone with a more varied approach to produce. If Mariah keeps letting JD produce everything because they're friends, it'll be the death of her career. He's obviously not able to reinvent himself, so that doesn't mean she shouldn't either.

As for Cri$tyle, I actually think she gave Mariah a much needed female-empowered touch to her music.

I agree with Colson that she should stop worrying about staying hip and relevant. She has accomplished a lot, and she just doesnt need to compete with the likes of Rihanna anymore. I'd like her to take a couple of years off, enjoy some time with Nick and just relax in the Carribeans, get far away from the biz for some time.

I want her to stick with R&B and soul but without going much into hip hop, kinda like the Mary J style. She should let JD go, work with people she has never worked before, explore new things and just enjoy music because she loves it not to have more no. 1 hits or have the best opening week ever.

I think the problem with the Mariah/JD combo is the fact that Mariah tends to gravitate towards the same sound from him. I think if she let him produce something like he did for Jay-Z's album or LL Cool J's album or even Janet Jackson's album it'll sound somewhat fresh for her.

Despite popular belief not everything he produces sounds exactly alike or is a carbon copy from his previous work. It becomes that situation when the artist asks for something like that. I bet if Mariah asked for something really different and groundbreaking he could do it. It comes down to does Mariah want to do it though. Because they are in there producing and writing the songs together

I agree about the female-empowered thing, but she could have worked with a different female songwriter. I'm sorry but Chri$tyle turned every song she worked on into Beyonce/J Lo. AT times it doesn't even sound like her. The only really well-written songs on this album are 'Side Effects' and 'I Wish You Well' which she had no part in.

That's a matter of opinion and not a fact. If Mariah wants to work with a her then she can continue.

Its my opinion that Chri$tyle bought something fresh to the table. And many of the songs are well written on this album and surprisingly mature for an album that is supposed to be nothing but fun.
