Surprised the drama-loving lambs here haven't started gossiping about this one, LOL. From the Spanish magazine interview on Mariah Daily:

S.E: How do you feel about Madonna having recorded an R&B album?
M.C: Interesting (pauses). It's very interesting.

S.E: On it, she collaborates with Pharrell, with whom you worked, Mimi. Perhaps you gave her some inspiration?
M.C: I don't know, I don't have any idea about her intentions. I'll just say that it's very interesting (she tries not to laugh, and I'm able to notice it, despite the shadow).

S.E: You a 90's icon. With which 80's icon would you collaborate: Madonna, Prince, or Michael Jackson?
M.C: I've loved Prince ever since I was a little girl. And as a matter of fact, we worked together once, even though we didn't finish the song. So I would love to work with him again, because I consider him a true genius.

The thing is, Madonna's album (4Minutes, Dance2Night aside) is FAR from an R&B album. Once again, people starting stuff out of nothing.

So true, the new Madonna album is electro, or beat driven, that is far from r&b or even hip hop! But the album is good! I like it!

She was in touch with Prince during the Glitter era... He gave her a lot of advice at that time. So I guess it's obvious they worked on something during the Glitter era...
I'd love to see M and Prince collaborate on a track. That'd be HOT! Same for M. Jackson. Love him as an artist!

yeah Mariah is answering questions about some artists with some sense or arrogance these days....im not a fan of the way shes responding to the Leona Lewis questions...."does 'this girl' want to be my double and acting like if shes never heard of her or whatever. Its a simple answer to just say its always great to see new comers doing there thing....its cool if she doesnt see the comparison and just say that but to refer to her as 'this gir' when she damn well knows who she is is coming across a little offish.I had never read the stuff until a friend of mine told me Mariah is so full of +!+#. I got all defensive and was like why the fcuk u saying that and then they showed me the quote and then a clip from a BBC interview....

I mean pharells music isnt even R&B and the who its interesting response is to suggest that she did it first so Madonna is following her....I think thats bullshit...so what if Madonna does R&B...? The last time i checked that genre of music doesnt belong to Mariah

I don't think there is anything wrong with what Mariah said. If someone told me after listening to Hard Candy that it was an R&B album I would laugh too. It's dance music. She has done some R&B influenced songs but none that I've heard on that album.

Also I didn't take her Leona comment in a bad way either. I mean it's her opinion that they don;t sound a like and they don't. I took it as a joke in the way.

I would take this answer over "we love everybody" any day.

Ugh, people complain any which way. If she said something like "Oh is she?" and played ignorant, she'd get slated, if she played the "I can only focus on my own music" card, she'd get slated, if she said she was "happy for her", she'd be called fake. Now that she's finally having an opinion on things, and calling out Madonna for being the genre-jumper that she is, she's a b!tch.

Well good, I'd rather she was honest than fake. Mariah gets slated whatever she does, she may as well be open in the process.
