Memoirs is an album who reflects way more of the dream than mariah. And that's my problem. Don't get me wrong about him. I have all his cds and that's why I can't listen to memoirs without seeing how that album fits perfectly to his trilogy but this time from the woman's point of view. There is absolutely nothing I can see related to butterfly on memoirs and the fact that she sold the album like it was based on it made me dislike a lot more than I had to.
This is something I agree with - I feel you hear nothing lyrically that is really Mariah with Memoirs. You walk away from the album learning nothing about her, none of the songs feel like they have come from her or have a message from her. They come from somewhere I'm sure but with this album, I didn't feel they were really coming from Mariah. The whole thing felt very distant. Its her first album since 1995 (barring Glitter) that I felt had no statement in it at all and walked away having no clue where Mariah was at as a person.
