It's cool how much press the anniversary is getting.
I think it's because this was an iconic era for her. The Proctor's Theater special is one of her most recognizable moments to the general public with the curls and black gown belting out 'Hero' being one of her iconic looks.
Not to mention the 'Dreamlover' video with the jeans shorts and flannel shirt. It's very nostalgic and it felt like her first true superstar moment in many ways thanks also to 'Without You' breaking her through a lot of international markets.
The 1/2 combo of Dreamlover and Hero was genius. Absolutely perfect. Like you said, it was her first superstar moment. Sure, she had great success with her debut, but so did Paula Abdul. The only thing missing from this era was a proper tour, and I put the blame solely on Mariah for that, since we didn't get one until 2003.
