There's no way of getting around it so I might as well just get it out there - was a bit a mess. I'm not shocked as this song was never going to translate well live so it was just watching it all unfold into a horrid reality.
The 'Fashionably Late' thing was actually really, really cute I felt and I will give credit to. The video idea running with it was a bit cheap looking though - I agree with others saying this kind of lowbrow quality would never have made it through a few years back. I found it insanely funny wondering if the crowd was wondering "WTF is she?" for most of the song and if they were just going to watch a video of her instead. The Meek and Ross parts seemed to drag on forever as I kept thinking JUST GET OUT ON STAGE FOR YOUR SONG MARIAH!! lol The audio mixing was definitely shot. I actually wondered if Mariahs mic was off for a while on her arrival and the backing singers were wailing so powerfully that I was wondering what the hell was going on. Mariah was hoarse but I've heard worse and she looked nice in the gold, workin' those flowey things on her wrists.
Like the song itself, this is one performance that I'll be forgetting.
Yeah I mean I respect her for TRYING to do something "interesting" with her performance, it's just that everytime she tries to do something new it always is executed SO FREAKING POORLY!!!
Indeed. Being a big platform and given her status, you'd think the video would have been a bit more polished. Some of this inhouse stuff she has been doing of late looks very budget and sloppy. It dosen't become a legend of Mariahs calibre. I hate to say it as it will only fatten the already obese egos of the Beyhive but you just know an artist like Beyonce would have that sh!t looking so smooth and classy you could eat your dinner off it.
