The RIAA only counts Unplugged's 3xp certification as 1.5xp since it was certified as a short form album.
That is incorrect though, because 1) Unplugged has more than five songs which is the limit for 'EP/shortform album' and 2) the criteria for EP/shortform album is still Gold (500,000) and Platinum (1,000,000), all per RIAA's website. It's a calculating error on RIAA's part.
Hmmm.... the website also says this about EPs: "Average minimum running time is 30 minutes." MTV Unplugged runs at 28.7 minutes. What does "average minimum running time" even mean? "Average minimum" doesn't even make sense (or else I'm having a serious brain fart).
