"Stripped" is not R&B and her 'latin' album was simply a Spanish version of her debut marketed towards Latin America.
The media here give her credit for taking risks and building a carreer
rather than going the easy way by releasing the same kind of albums year
after year. She may not have sold as many albums as Britney for
instance, but that's not what the media think is relevant.
Well for one Christina takes 20 years to make an album. I don't live in Europe, but it's odd how Madonna and P!nk (two artists who she's copied and two artists who have actually taken more risks than her) actually have the sales to back up their media coverage/praise in Europe.
