'Rude Boy' and 'Imma Be' are both still a lot more Urban than something like 'Halo' though, which Urban played.
No, I'm sorry, I don't agree. Just because 'Rude Boy' has some ghetto-fied lyrics doesn't mean it's Urban. 'Imma Be' is just as Pop as the other singles the BEP have released. 'Halo', on the other hand had a R&B-leaning beat IMO and considering BeyoncĂ©'s history at Urban radio, it was a no brainer that they would play it.
Oh, come on.  'Halo' is straight up AC.  You know if a white singer sang it Urban wouldn't touch it.  'Rude Boy' is dance-urban imo, and 'Imma Be' is like pop/rap.
How is 'Halo' AC? You're probably right about the white singer thing (Urban didn't play 'Already Gone' in fact ), but 'Halo' has a R&B beat and the production/vocals are R&B enough for Urban radio to play it. And, as I already said, BeyoncĂ©'s name helped it a lot.
'Imma Be' is Pop/Rap, but Urban didn't play any of the Flo Rida singles (except for 'Be On You' but that was because of Ne-Yo and it wasn't that big either) and they are the same genre as the BEP singles.
