its all about perspective. I don't rank the importance of artists in charts or sales. As far as female singers that are important -- she's one of them.
That's fine, but then you have to understand that your "rankings" will matter to you and you alone, unlike charts and sales, which can be acknowledged by everyone. So stop trying to convince us all that Christina is this super "important" artist when she's only important to you.

about 98% of the greatest singers of all time have absolutely BOGUS and nonexistant chart and sales stats. Understand that I know what I'm talking about and least of all you - someone who's musical taste has shown to have no respect for actual vocals - will be able to write my "opinion" off. Anyone that at the very least has a casual appreciation for the art and technique of singing, has to unequivocally include Christina Aguilera as a world class vocalist. Point blank. You're right - there is no billboard chart around that can rank whos a better singer etc. but half a century of encyclopedic, documented information, countless critical literature and a global community of music connoisseurs have defined a distinct barometer of greatness. Christina meets the already established criteria. In regards to great female vocalists - Christina Aguilera - is on the list - whether you like it or not. the fact that the next 50 years will have Christina already established in the echelon of great singers, a voice which young new talent will undoubtedly be influenced by already cements her relevance. If Christina Aguilera isn't relevant - then neither is Billie Holiday or Judy Garland.
