I don't get where a song having
20 million impressions - which means far less than 20 million people are hearing it - would be the difference in an album being top 10 and top 50. Plus, Daughtry didn't even have a video until 1-2 weeks ago. In my opinion, the album was basically selling off his name alone until the last few weeks. The album is just now starting to sell based on the song. Also, Ludacris' new song is doing better than 20 million impressions, and his album is still hovering in the 50s. Hellogoodbye is around there with their current single, and where is their album?
Anyway, there is no way to "prove" Taylor would or wouldn't be doing dramatically different with a middling single, so I guess we've said all we can say. We can see if the album rises back up the charts now that a song has been released to radio.
