Promise? Mariah made a promise? To Oprah? I must have missed that.

If she did, why on earth would she make a promise like that to Oprah of all people? Oprah who can't even maintain her own weight, lately (and in the past)?

And, I don't see how Mariah didn't stay in great shape for a good length of time. So, she gained a few? It's not like she gained Oprah or even Kristie Alley type of weight.
She didn't promise but she was talking out of her ass as if she wasn't on a crash diet and working out like a fiend. She was making it seem like she made a serious lifestyle change when its obvious she didn't.

Um..............so, because she gained some pounds, she didn't make a serious lifestyle change? Please. People go up and down. Oprah has made serious lifestyle/weightloss changes, and she still goes up and down. It happens to women every single day.

Mariah kept it up for a good amount of time. And, like many, she probably just got a little lazy and didn't workout as much or watch what she ate. So, I do not see how she was talking out of hera$$. And, it isn't like she's the first newlywed to gain some pounds after getting married. It's similar to the freshmen 15, imo.

Hell, I need to start taking my a$$ back to the gym. I don't eat more than like two meals a day and have a smoothie, but I still need to get back to the gym. I know my body is going to hurt like hell when I first start going back image

if anyone got as fit and strong as Mariah did at the begining of the era and then in a matter of months, let it all go back to the way it was (which was fine) then obviously it was only to get as skinny as possible for the promotion and not because she went through a psychological change.
it takes a lot mentally to live and eat the way Mariah was to get into the shape she got into -- and even more mentally to maintain it.

Its just what you said -- she got lazy and was a newlywed -- so it was her prerogative and I don't blame her for it -- but in the Oprah interview she was acting as if she really made a serious change in her approach. If she did - she wouldn't have gotten "lazy". That's all I'm saying.

Congrats on getting back to the gym --- I myself am getting back into the gym and it does hurt like hell. I'm a personal trainer but left the industry for something more stable last November (80% of my clients worked on Wall St. and lost their jobs and couldn't afford me) and now I'm getting back into it slowly and I can't be the fat ass I've been all winter and expect my clients to take me seriously. image

ETA - I don't believe Oprah ever made or commited to a lasting lifestyle change in regards to her weight and overall health.
