Even 1.7 million was a LOT of albums for someone who didn't even have a big radio hit (albeit, it was a bigger radio hit than anything Mariah released from Glitter or Charmbracelet since everyone here loves to compare the two). The fact that she could outsell some of the heavy hitters who were struggling to even hit a million at the time is a testament to the power of her name.

Norah Jones sold that in like a week in 2004. I imagine there's some testament to her name as well? It's not really that big of a deal when nobodies like Snorah do those numbers in a week.

Madonna isn't relevant to US music. She knows it too. Don't think she ran to Timbaland and Justin and got them on her 1st single 'cause she loves their music. She knows radio isn't interested, so she had to get a feature (that's more like Justin on lead) to get played on radio. BOTTOM LINE.

There's no features on any of Mariah's big 4 singles on the hot 100 with 'Mimi', and still no features. Mariah is relevant.
