Not to burst your bubble, but it's all relative. It went to #1 ahead of all the other big radio hits at the same, and hung around long enough to sell over 500k downloads during a time that you yourself just admitted wasn't a huge time for downloads.

OF course it did. People only bought her single, and not that horrible unlistenable album. It's the same thing with Rihanna. The single (at least Rihanna had more than one LMAO!) blows up 'cause it's easier to spend 99cents instead of $10.00 - in the end, Madonna lost in the US.

So what'd she do? Grabbed Timbaland and JT, because she knows she's not relevant in the US on radio. If it wasn't for her fanbase buying the singles (the same crazed fans that spend $300 - $2,000 to see this woman on tour) her songs wouldn't even chart.

Madonna is not relevant. M. Dolla? Girl boo!

But people did buy her album. It sold 2 million copies which was a hell of a lot more than many big radio artists were selling at the time.

The figures I've seen are 1.7million. Any established artist with a 20+ year career should have a solid fan base of at least 2milion. That sales total is FAR from impressive when you say her name in front of it. Just like Glitters 700k total, and Charmbracelets 1.2million total. You're clearly the delusional one! We all know Madonna could sell in Europe like no ones business, thats why if she were smart, she'd rack up out there, and continue living out there. Leave the US alone. Wait she already did that, but realized the US is where the money is.. now look at her. Crawled up to poor Timb and Justins feet beginning for one of the leftovers from Nelly Fertado's Loose.
